This is what I imagine is going through some of the orcs' minds under Garrosh, thinking of the good old days when their ancestors spilled blood without a care in the world, all for "honor".

Ironforge war theme.

Excellent! You got the idea behind this thread, and you get maximum points!

Because you picked a famous song which does not directly reference warcraft or anything fantasy like, but it describes a warcraft phenomena through symbolism.

Quoted from the OP for visibility. Especially the part where the song needs to have lyrics.

Which is why i chose Deathklok - Go into the Water for the Naga.

We reject our earthly fires
Gone are days of land empires
Lungs transform to take in water
Cloaked in scales we swim and swim on

We are alive, and we'll metamorphasize
And we'll sink as we devolve back to beasts
Our home is down here, and we've known this for years
We must conquer from the sea, we build an army with water steeds

We'll rise, from our depths down below
Release yourselves, drown with me
We will conquer land with water

The lyrics fit them quite well.

It fits them well, too well. Which means there isn't any symbolism involved; in fact any symbolism there might be would suggest quite the opposite as naga haven't rejected their Arcane and imperialistic heritage (We reject our earthly fires).

For example Grimtale picked the song Lycanthrope for the worgen, which is fine. But I'd appreciate much more if he picked a pop love song that involves the moon which when interpreted in a warcraft context describes the worgen quite well.

But those are just my tastes, and what I find amazing about this thread idea. Others certainly aren't required to follow my lead.

Also works.

I mean, come on! After the chanting in Ulduar, and then it being used in Grim Batol/Ironforge, you have to imagine dwarves chanting now.

The themes linked by Fojar and myself have lyrics. They're just in a different language.

In either case I would say 'Deal with it', it's not serious.

Glad you approve. Plus, I just think the Morrissey and WoW go well together. I'll see if I can think of some others.

Land of Hope and Glory for the Humans.

Or maybe not, doesn't match that well.

So, no idea.

Not bad.

@CoD, it is nice but I guess the "expanding borders" part doesn't really chime with humans who haven't expanded much in 3000yrs.

Taken from Garrosh's little black book of poems:

Daddy's gone across the Portal...
Leavin' just a legacy...
A tattoo on my lower jaw...
Daddy, what else did ya' leave for me?

Daddy, what'd you leave behind for me?

And here, a song of orcish celebration:

O Jealous Desert.

And here, undoubtedly, the sounds of the Alliance army...

THIS is the true Alliance war march theme.

Arise, the vast country,
Arise for a fight to the death
Against the fascist dark force,
Against their damned horde.

Let noble wrath
Boil over like a wave!
The peoples' war is on the rise,
a sacred war!

First verse is Illidan, 2nd part could be Thrall, or death knights, 3rd part is probably Garrosh

@Hagrid That middle song is awesome, musically I mean, I don't think it fits the orcs though. I'd think the orcs would like faster beats and their songs would probably be more wild.

@Kir, well I think your songs are OK but you just pick things too literally for my tastes, I'd like to see more symbolism, and it would be cool if you could find fitting symbolism in a mainstream song completely unrelated to warcraft.

@Genya "Go west, life is peaceful there" in regards to orcish arrival to Kalimdor... yeah I don't see it

Yeah, it's not a perfect match. Maybe suits Trolls better?

I always imagined orcs enjoying mournful funeral dirges, actually. Tibetan Throat-Singing mixed with Navajo lullabies and that all that.

Maybe I ought to pull out my old playlists...

False. Here is the only sound suitable to the Shamanistic mind:

I don't really like most of the current "mainstream".

And how can you get more symbolic than the patriotic Soviet song?! It really stuck in my head today as in "that would be a good idea for C9H20's thread" - it had things like "damned horde" and "cursed uncleans fascists" (you could even translate 'nechist' as undead!). But most of all, the "fascist dark force" instantly reminded me of your old Nazi Forsaken avatar.

I mean, you can even allude to the dream of a free and fair world warped and crushed all for the sake of General Secretary Varian's cult of personality!

Heh, cute

But jokes aside what symbolism is there in calling the Horde a "damned Horde" or the undead "evil Nazis" (well apart from the word Nazi itself) given that is just what they'd be called by the Alliance?
It fits really well as an Alliance war song, and I agreed with that, but I personally like the "fit" to be more symbolic and abstract, like how Destron gave us a song about a popularity seeking mass murderer which happens to fit the young orcs if viewed through a warcraft lens.

Although you do get cookie points for remembering that Forsaken Nazi avatar, it was so underappreciated and it took me quite a bit of time to make it.

@Hagrid, I will reply to you soon, I just replied to Kir first since your reply demands more consideration (since I have to listen to the songs).
