One boss hardly counts as an entire tier...but that's just my opinion.

RS was super fun, my guild got it down the first or second week and had a blast. I would love if blizz could put out something similar just to have fun & tie us over until 6.0 drops.

Even if it was something as dumb as RS with maybe a giant Kobold or pest creatures in a big room like RS was would be super awesome and would require very little work from their end.

These long content droughts have hurt every guild that I have been in since WotLK. Its fine, but the only part that sucks is that they keep promising they will get tiers/content out faster. Ruby sanctum was a low effort attempt to tie us over, and in my opinion it worked fairly well for this type of situation. But it is not in any way a raid tier. The three mini bosses were a joke, for most raiding guilds.

Now that I have been thinking about the situation at the end of WotLK, there were so many PUGS running RS felt more like a predecessor to our modern World Bosses, and thats what they gave us with the Timeless isle and Ordos. You just form a small group and go at it.

I don't think they can. They are so delayed, they couldn't do class balancing last patch.

Ruby Sanctum was not a raid tier. It was an additional boss on the same tier.

It did not have 'mini bosses'.. it had trash mobs.

It's content nontheless.. the raid loot was on par with lich king heroic gear helping (I think) helping people kill him.

It was on par with normal Lich King loot.

It still doesn't count as it's own tier. Icecrown Citadel was still the only raid tier for that 12 month period. Ruby Sanctum was a futile effort to alleviate the content drought, but all it did was cause more burnout because it added another unenjoyable but largely mandatory boss onto the raid schedule.

So, the F&F Alpha has finally started, after a long delay.

A good news, but still worrying, because it is still not a Beta.

WoW F&F Alphas normally last about two months. I'm not sure if this one will be shorter, but we will see.

The Beta itself might last 4 months, maybe 3. (4 months was the "real" duration" of the MoP Beta, but we should not forget that the Jade Forest Revamp made the Beta maybe one month longer than necessary.)

This isn't really a FnF Alpha. It's more a really closed Beta.

I don't think there's going to be nearly as many invites as MoP's beta.

So in theory, they could name it "beta" after a month or so?

And yeah, if you haven't signed up yet, it's unlikely you will get Beta Access. This isn't MoP, were we had a "Semi-Open" Beta, because of the Annual Pass.

By the way:

Is it still last weeks build or was it updated when the F&F Alpha went live?

I think its the same build.

Maybe once Shadowmoon and Talador are open (they seem to be nearly finished, especially Talador) they'll just switch over to calling it beta.

Also, they might wait with the "beta" until they add some new player models.

Based on the texture leaks, Forsaken are almost finished, ditto Female Tauren and Night Elves.

I speculate blizzard will announce (or not) that they are giving away beta keys at Dreamhack 2014... Like they did with Pax... They should announce something there at least... and then have the beta start about a week later.

Hoping for a fast Beta and release before September (so that I have time to play before Uni kicks my ass again) but a september release wouldn't be too bad. I don't think my hopes of mid-August will come true, Blizzard seems way too far behind for that to happen.

And to think i hoped for a June release back at Blizzcon. :/

Raid testing is about to begin. Normally, this happens about 2-3 months before release.

Plus, this was teased (together with an old RPG artwork) on the Blizzzard CS Facebook Page, about 8 hours ago.

Have you noticed something strange with the Dark Portal recently? Flickers of an older looking Draenor on the other side? One of our scouts was able to sketch what they *thought* they saw. We can't be sure... it may be nothing. Check back here tomorrow around noon PDT to see if we have any updates!
