Well, there's always my question. If vampires are dead, why do they lust? A neutered creature or a creature who is incapable of procreating does NOT have a sex drive.

Can a vampire have sex? Yes. But not out of lust. That's one of the biggest problems I have with all of these writers. Vampires use sex as one of MANY ways to MANIPULATE humans. They don't ENJOY it. Hell, they probably don't even FEEL it, or if they do, it's entirely as mundane to them as typing.

Well, what if they "could" enjoy the memory, the feelings, smells, tastes, etc. I was thinking more of them enjoying it as a way to control and torture humans. I realize the first idea is more of the romantic dribble we all have a distaste for, but the latter i think fits an evil being just fine.

I do enjoy True Blood a lot due to the fact that it sticks to all of the Vampires traits but with a substiture and choice not to mension it keeps the whole Vampire dark treatment with them all even including the ones that dont want to feed on Humans blood.

Another one that is quite bad but at least sticks to the avid Vampire traits would be Vampire Diaries with its substitute being the ring allowing them to go in daylight although it cannot express the darkness traits to well as it is a family show.

Twilight though alters almost everything to the Vampire's traits which agrivates me especially with its substiture being a glittering body thats just salt to the wounds.

Somebody once argued with me that it's not cool to not be ok with the glampires of twilight because it's a new way at looking at vampires. They said "well what if i made a book about dragons except they didn't have wings and they lived in the ocean?" My retort was "Then that would be a book about sea monsters." Just like twilight isn't a book about vampires,i just can't classify what those... things are any better then to call them glampires.

Part of the issue is that when one takes vampires and removes the horrific, unpleasant attributes from them while glorifying what remains, what's left is an immortal being without the nightmarish strings attached to keep them different from humanity. The benefits of being one suddenly grossly outweigh the negatives. Even in most stories in which they're not portrayed as utterly monstrous creatures, they remain limited by things like destruction when exposed to sunlight and various other weaknesses held by their unnatural state that prevents them from just rearranging their schedule to work a day job and otherwise just being normal people. Otherwise, once one works out the logistical kinks of getting food regularly it treads into the territory of it actually being downright preferable to be a vampire than a human, and suddenly the vampires are more a race of supermen while the humans are the ones worthy of pity just because they lack all those shiny powers, indefinite longevity and immunity to mundane diseases. Even the good old trope of immortals outliving their loved ones becomes moot when there are families of them.

At that point, the vampire has practically become an elf with unusual dietary preferences. And once they're that, they might as well be called something other than vampires.

I actually call them succubi and incubi at that point, as they have more in common with those creatures than vampires.

I think drinking something like animal blood or whatever other source is an exception to the rule. You don't find many vampires, since they are evil, doing that. Only "good" vampires do that like Angel, Blade, etc.

True Blood would be horrible without Alexander Skarsgård. Dude should get a spin-off series about his adventures as a vampire-viking

None of this applies to T Vs.
Wait wait wait, so you're saying that glampires can survive decapitation and being staked through the heart? Damn, the world is doomed.

I read in some summary that they can be killed like that if burned or something. The author said she wrote the book without knowing anything about "canon vampires" or something.

I'm sorry, but if you grew up without learning anything about vampires from ANYWHERE, you lived a sheltered life.

Skids taps Megatron's Autobot badge.

Skids: Right. There. What does that badge even mean to you? How has wearing it forced you to modify your behaviour? I'm serious! How has being an Autobot in any way prevented you from doing exactly what you want? Because if the answer is "it hasn't"—then nothing you've said or done in the last six months counts for anything.

So glampires have absolutely no weaknesses at all when they become undead, all the strengths, advantages and a random mystical power?

They're not vampires, they're fucking Super Heroes.

I would call being sparkly a drawback. They ruined the easy concept of sun = gone. Now they have to check if it's an overcast day and live in northern places that are grey all the time.

Have they never heard of the excuse "I was at a strip club last night?"

So the biggest problem they have is getting a good property on upper north America?

Ye are truly cursed by the almighty God.
