I liked the Space Wolves the most of the chapters until the Wulfen.

Out of curiosity, is there any record of the Space Wolves losing a conflict?

I really wish 40k actually had Space Dwarves. Squats were kinda lame, so I don't even care about what happened to them, but think of all the potential the Demiurg have.

Mantic's Forgefathers are super cool and something like that in 40k would probably get me invested in the universe.

Meh.

They have all the potential of being Tau auxiliaries, I am afraid.

Not sure if fantasy in space would work for 40k anymore.

Maybe if the squats had converted the try alongside the orks and eldars back then, they wouldn't be lame today.

Battlefleet Gothic seems promising thus far. It has good production values; everything is clean and crisp. My only gripe is that the background 'maps' seem a little... 2D? But that's me nitpicking. The cutscenes are excellent, and the campaign feels very immersive. Plus, everybody has a British accent unlike Dawn of War and its American Space Marines and Canadian Imperial Guard.

Bots are reasonably difficult even on Easy.

I seem to do a lot better with Imperial Navy than I do Chaos. As much as I try to outrange the enemy, it just isn't happen, and compared to everybody else - escorts especially - they're wet tissue paper. Considering the Eldar are the glassier cannons to the Chaos glass cannons it'll be interesting to see how that pans out when they're released.

Also:

If Sanguinius had it all, and was supposedly the best primarch. If Horus himself thought Sanguinius should have been warmaster.

Why didn't the Emperor choose Sanguinius to be Warmaster?

I heard the implications coming from the Black Library books is that Sanguinius was corrupted by chaos. Which makes sense since he displayed the most obvious case of a mutation.

So, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada officially launched. It's a perfect study of a potentially great game that suffers badly from awful balancing.

In Cruiser Clash (basically ship fights exclusively) the game has plenty of issues, but can be decent fun. The issue comes from the other missions that are just plainly unfun and of course they're all randomly chosen in multiplayer. Convoy escort as the escortee is pretty much impossible because ramming the slow moving transports - regardless of faction - is easy mode that any faction short of Eldar can perform, and since Eldar are THE alpha strike faction they just need to get their ships in range (which is piss easy due to their speed) and fire off one salvo. If you're escorting them - regardless of faction - you have to hope your enemy is either moronically stupid, totally new to the game, DCs. Assassination is impossible to win as Imperial Navy or Orks because the Chaos/Eldar fleets just use their speed boost to hide across the map and Warp out before you've even seen their ship.

Orks are broken in the sense that they're pretty much unplayable against any faction but Imperial Navy and even then it's difficult. The game has too much emphasis on being faster, which means the slower factions just get kited around and it's a game of waiting for the opponent to fuck up. I've had about five matches versus a Chaos or Eldar player (usually the latter because they're vermin) where I'll annihilate their entire fleet, and out of spite they make me chase their one remaining, low armoured ship around the map for fifteen minutes because they can. My engine-crippled Imperial Navy ships still go the same speed as a fully functioning Ork ship so it's no wonder why in fifteen games I've gone up against Orks once compared to about nine Eldar and four Chaos.

The single player campaign has surprising amount of quality and polish to it though. Voice acting is decent, the cutscenes using the whole 'animated' art thing look pretty great and the story - despite us all knowing the ending - is pretty decent and immersive.

Sanguinius was aloof and had severe self-confidence issues due to being a mutant. Only Horus was friends with every other Primarch and charismatic enough to lead all of them. Also, it is possible that he was designed that way and the Emperor was lucky enough to find him first.

There was also a great deal of parental favoritism involved.

Apropos of nothing, what I wouldn't give to have a viable army of allied Tau, Necrons and Eldar capable of crushing anything under their advanced firepower.

Horus was the first son found, also he was able to use all his Brothers to their greatest extent, just as well as the Emperor did (or even better in some case). Obviously, tensions remained and he wasn't a friend of all of them, but being able to ease the tensions between the other Primarchs probably played a part.

Only three races, hmmm...I wonder if Sega and Relic trying to make something akin to Starcraft in terms of gameplay.

They'll probably add more in DLC.

Let's hope it's more like DoW and less like DoW II.

Edit: Just read the pcgamer article. It IS like DoW. Glorious!
