Depends on what the new canon says. So far both the Jedi and Sith are legends of a bye-gone age.

JJ Abrams said so in a interview. It's the Light side versus the Dark side. Snoke isn't Sith.

"Abrams confirms Snoke not a Sith."

Snoke a Sith confirmed.

The Empire was gone.

Kylo Ren isn't one, he didn't say Snoke isn't.

Unknown until we find out exactly what those teachings are all about.

Snoke is more interested that Ren has both the light and dark and wants to use that where as the dark jedi and sith were all about purging the light and going dark.

So what do you think made Kylo Ren become who he is? I liked one theory of shitty upbringing. Han was distant because Ben wasn't as laid back as him, and couldn't relate to his struggle with the force, and Leia was strict and pushy about his heritage. Probably had no emotional connection with Luke either. I can see Luke telling him about Anakin's downfall and the Jedi of old. Ben saw his situation more or less similar to that of Anakin and started romanticizing him. And seeing Vader as a free spirit after embracing the dark side.

I was like 12 when my parents led me to watch EP I, I enjoyed it and found its flaw when I grow up. Since EP III I have become a huge SW fan. Yesterday was really special to me.

The movie was awesome overall, despite a few minor flaws like Finn's change in the beginning and the yelling of the First Order. But it's really great, the plot, the humor, the characterization and the mystery it has left were all very awesome. The cast was fine as well. This movie got similar plot to EP IV but gave us new feelings, it indeed is passing the torch to the new heroes rather than stick to the big three like the old EU. It's good the see the old team back again. Especially in the end, the whole theater was clapping for Luke. We've got our hero back and he is ready to pass the torch. I was also very shocked when I saw Snoke because I think he indeed is Plagueis, one of the most interesting Sith in the old EU.

Compare to the prequel, Lucas had a magnificent theme but he had failed to present it well in a movie and made some bad decision on the details. This movie actually focused on how to make a enjoyable movie for the fans, for the new generation. And it did a good job. I've said long ago that Star Wars need new movies to carry on its magic and influence to the next generation and I don't mind wipe most of the EU for it. George Lucas knew it as well so he made the TCW to hang on for a while and then sold it to Disney when himself is too old and out of ideas. I think we must thank him for it. This, this is what I've been waiting for. I've never seen so many people at the theater and many parents had brought their children. Yes, it's happening, the new generation is getting the magic, the Force through the new movies. Good Job Disney, keep it on.

So my clone hated it. Apparently the entire audience applauded and he was just sitting there wondering why he was watching Episode 4 again.

Just saw the movie. I thought it was pretty bad ass overall. A bit predictable, but that's alright. The space ship battles were awesome.

Eh, not really. It's not about the whole balance thing, at least as far as the movie went into. But more of the change that your force alignment is now hereditary. So no matter how much he envelopes himself in the dark side, he can still feel the tug of the light side.

The midos were one thing, this takes it to a whole another level.

But then again, I didn't see him as a Revan ripoff, just a more angsty/emo version of Jacen Solo and Anakin Skywalker.

So is Leia a Jedi Master now? I always find the super jedi Leia in the old EU is very weird compare to the movie character.

Oh, they did. They did...

It would be sexist and patriarchal to portray a strong, independant, womyn like Rey as having flaws, or sucking for a movie or two, in order to show character growth...

She's as much of a mary sue as Luke was in EpIV. They threw Phasma into the trash... We still have two movies to go. And she's likable compared with other female characters in movies, like Black Widow/Katniss etc.
