PvP Symbol - Horde The Official Warlords of Draenor Lore Thread

Put the Lore relevant stuff in here. Prefer to have no discussion, but try to keep it to a minimum. At least don't rage.

The Hellscream yelling at Ner'zhul is Garrosh, not Grom.

Arakkoa

BC lore: Rukhmar was the old arakkoa god who was supplanted by a new one (who we now know to be named Arakk). When worship of Rukhmar was abandoned, Terokk - the arakkoa's greatest hero who built Skettis with his own claws - suddenly vanished, leaving some to wonder if he was Rukhmar in mortal form.

WoD lore: The arakkoa followers of Arakk, their sun god, exile any arakkoa found with a Shadow Tome, as dark magic is strictly forbidden to their people. These heathen Arakkoa Outcasts follow Terokk (and probably Rukhmar as well) and are the faction we ally with against the sun-worshiping arakkoa. A stage on one of the instances listed in my post above mention a focusing lens, which seems to me that they're going to cook the planet with the sun, magnifying-glass-on-ants style.

A datamined spell hints that we'll be seeing visions of Terokk's lifetime at some point in the Spires questline.

Do we have anything else on the goren being 'eaters of elements' and 'gronn children'?

Do we know how literal that's meant?

The Arbitum

Quote:
(2) This is the Arbitum.
(2) The Prophet foresaw a time in our future when our people would come into grave danger.
(2) This shrine holds the power to save us from destruction.
(2) I pray that the day of judgment shall never come. Power like this can only come at great cost.
(2) Activation of The Arbitum requires an incredible amount of energy - energy of a kind that can't be found on this world.
(2) Luckily, Iris Crystals do not originate from Draenor. We think three should be enough to supply the energy we need.
(2) Five Iris Crystals have fallen from the skies around Shadowmoon Valley.
(2) Unfortunately, it looks like the Shadowmoon are collecting them as well. We cannot allow them to succeed.
Quote:
(2) Do you know the workings of our magic, traveler?
(2) See this hammer? In my hands, it strikes with magical force against enemies. But used by an inexperienced trainee, it is no more than a blunt rock.
(2) The Arbitum is only as powerful as the one who uses it.
(2) In the right hands, it restores hope for this world. In the wrong ones, it is a weapon of absolute destruction.

I keep confusing "Arbitum" with "Arboretum". Makes me think the Draenei are really into trees. That would explain Archimonde, now that I think about it.

I believe they are Sapient, they didn't talk though. One had a part of the spirits of fury in them (which is a fire elemental) I dunno I would probably call them humanoid animals.

Wonder why we never heard of the Arbitum in the MU and why it wasn't used by the Draenei then... aside from it not having been thought of yet of course.

EDIT:

Darn I was hoping for at least gnoll level intellect.

So they're like apes or something then...

Arbitum actually means is the Latin name of the "evergreen strawberry tree".

I don't know how the function of the device is related to the name, though. Maybe "Rule of Cool".

(2) I have never known the great Doomhammer to be afraid of anything.

It looks like Gul'dan doesn't ally with us out of his own free will. We capture his soul and force him into it.
Besides Teron being the Auchindoun boss, we also confront him on the remains of a place called Xandros. I saw a picture of it a few days ago, it looks like Firelands. A destroyed planet?

I would think its name is derived from the same root as "arbiter," a person who settles a dispute or has ultimate authority in a matter.

You're right. One of the meanings of the root "arbitr-/arbit-" is judgement (same as arbiter, of course).

Props to whoever else added the tags to this thread. As the mastermind behind "warlocks of draenor," it's gratifying to see the pattern continued.

Oh man I just had a thought.

If the Goren are "Gronn Children" and "Eaters of The Elements"

Then if that's literal...

Then it's possible when Gronn have kids (however that works, i'm guessing budding/splintering), they eat elementals or pieces of the local landscape and that influences what they look like as adult gronn.

Shouldn't this just be a repository, with the actual discussion happening elsewhere? If we continue discussing things here we won't be able to find things again, making this thread kinda obsolete.

Edit:
