Default Best MMO Recipes?

Right!

If you could make a MMO from scratch, with all knew toys using the best systems the world has to offer. What would you add to it?

Here is some of my ideas!

*A story based on a world with only around 4-6 races, who are neutral until proven to pick one side or the other
*Lore that is clear, concise, including how the society works, how the magic works (And sticking by its own laws), sticking to that lore, and assuring the timeline remains a constant
*A day and night cycle
*Character customization (Think Skyrim)
*The Ability to occupy a city/town through sheer numbers. Also, the ability to take it back (World PVP)
*Raids/Dungeons that unlock a story as they go, are not easy.
*Gear is used as an empowering resource rather than a requirement (Your character could fight naked, and be good at it, but is stronger while geared)
* Enabled roleplay
*A evolving story with updates to the world that reflects the changes in the story!

Um, Anyone else got any ideas?

If there's one thing Wildstar's got right, it's the paths system (as concept, since I haven't played its beta I can't speak to implementation).

I'd definitely include it.

Yes! I saw that! Looks great!

Though, I wonder if it is a more direct version of professions in current MMOs. And you can't swap and change?

Paths seemed somewhat boring, but I only played till level 4-5.

For example, for a settle it was mostly just collecting stuff and then using those materials to build temporary buff stations at predetermined places. For the scientist the missions simply entailed sending your drone to scan stuff. Well, at least you got lore out of those missions.

Nah they've got professions separately.

I do think professions should be a little more active and less grindy though, I never had much fun with them in WoW and wished Alchemist / Engineer could be a class.

Oh right! Sounds good!

Another I would like to add. MMOs with 'realist' graphics don't work, wish they would stop doing it. I think one of the reasons Wow is so successful is that it is oddly cartoony.

Completely agree. Imo, realistic graphics make the flaws of the textures and models more apparent.

LOTRO had GMs you could request to aid in events. Decorations, spawning mobs, they even set up private instances and controlled important NPCs.

Orb of Venom

I heard something awhile ago about how the next Everquest game would have a story and world that players as individuals and as a whole can contribute meaningfully to, which sounds really neat if it actually happens.
