Modern female clothing is designed to be worn in layers. While that may be annoying to upscale to deal with cold weather, it's very comfy to downscale. Thin material, designed to fit so naturally you don't mind fitting seven other things over it.

Also, pictures are demanded.

And it's a pretty good one. I dug exactly none of the songs in season three.

"Raise This Barn" was my favorite. Some of the ones in the finale might have made my list if they hadn't been so damn close together.

I grew up around people inside that kind of music. The song honestly didn't even register.

I watched Equestria Girls, and... yeah, Rotal's got the most of it. There were some flaws with it, the villain's main plan was pretty... um... well, it wasn't the dumbest thing I've ever heard, but it tried. I think it's going to end up like the DBZ or Pokemon movies where it's technically non-canon, or will never be brought up in the main series (like the comics).

With regards to the new episode... I liked it a fair bit. The song was pretty catchy, the story made a fair bit of sense, and I sympathized with Scootaloo. Plus, I think it helped kill some of the "no, really, Silver Spoon is a good pony and will totally turn on Diamond Tiara!" stuff I've heard some fans spout.

Equestria girls: It made me want to strangle things. Okay, let's be fair. They try really really hard at characterization and fan appeal and it almost, almost works. The problem is just that the entire thing just wasn't a good idea. As hard as the writers try, the main flaws all lie in concept.

On a more technical level, I found the pacing rather sloppy.

Also, remember Magic Duel? The one episode from season 3 that I really, really liked in both concept and execution (as opposed to most others, which had good concepts but were mediocrily executed, or were just bland)? Apparently, that was meant for season 2 originally.

Which casts a bit more of a spotlight on the whole 'princess twilight' ending. I'll be pretty clear in that I really like the idea of Twilight becoming an alicorn. It's a natural development and has been plenty foreshadowed. However, it comes at the end of a season that really didn't do that much with the character. Outside of her two character episodes, crystal empire and magic duel, she was surprisingly absent from the entire season.

It's especially noteworthy when compared to season two, where even in episodes where she wasn't the focus, twilight still often got an administrative, consultative or leadership role for the town as a whole. That's just not happening in season three, which has the effect of making the alicorn transformation feel less like a natural extension of the story and more like a sudden sharp turn.

The finale felt really, really, really rushed to me. Too many songs crammed into one episode; it felt more like it was supposed to be at least a two-part episode, but got cut short.

Yeah, that too. Honestly, the main plot and the 'becoming an alicorn' plot were connected by only the thinnest and thinnest of threads.

Keep in mind that this is all hearsay, but from what I've heard, the writers did go into it expecting it to be a two parter, and then found out that it was going to just be one episode. I did really like the idea of a musical episode, but it needed to be an hour to be done right, which I think ended up hurting it overall. That said, "What My Cutie Mark Is Telling Me" and the song Celestia did showing Twilight's accomplishments and WHY she was becoming a Princess were both really well done.

Finally got one of friends to give the show a try. I told him to give at least the pilot a try before bashing it. Didn't even mention watching the rest.

He's at episode 5 now. xP

Okay, two more things about the season three finale:

Twilight's spell affected the mane six through the elements of harmony, right? But what about everyone else? Why are people suddenly going to Fluttershy for parties instead of Pinkie Pie? Why aren't they asking for the help of Rainbow Dash or one of the other pegasi to deal with the clouds? Most notably, where are the other members of the apple family?

For most of the ponies, the cutie marks are indeed connected to their occupation. However, not for Rainbow Dash and Rarity. Rainbow Dash's cutie mark is for her need for speed, Rarity's cutie mark is for her affinity with gems. So why do their jobs switch along with their cutie marks?
It's especially notable because of Pinkie Pie. Like Rainbow and Rarity, her cutie mark is not directly related to her job (partying is her mark, assistant to mr. and mrs. cake is her job. Along with being a gypsy far-seer). However, Fluttershy doesn't actually seem to inherit her old job, instead organizing parties professionally.

*shrug* Maybe it fucked with their memories and all the other townsponies just went along with it?
