One, two, and New Vegas were all great. Fallout 3 was good.

I once tried to play fallout 1. I didn't get very far before becoming bored.

Fun fact: In order to make irradiated water drinkable, all you have to do is filter it through clean sand.

I don't understand why you'd need a GECK to do it in FO3.

Nuclear physics is no specialty of mine, but wouldn't that trick only work on really pure water?

What?

If you're referring to needing other filtration methods to get out other kinds of contaminants, then you still don't need a GECK for it.

Not contaminants per se. Let me try and clarify:

-The solution you describe is for purifying water. I was assuming that you mean 'water the chemical', and assuming that's it not quite as easy when you're trying to deradiate other chemicals, since radiation is a big dealzies.
-Most 'water the substance' is actually a mix of various chemicals, with 'water the chemical' being the most dominant.
-So, that means there's still radiated other substances, such as various ions.

Given your surprised reaction, I'm guessing that my second assumption there was wrong.

I'll go so far as to say that Fallout: New Vegas deals more intelligently with international relations than most college-level political science courses.

Also, though I already mentioned this in the BioShock thread, I'm so glad that Fallout has introduced a new generation to some absolutely wonderful music from the '20s-'50s.

I think this might be Bethesda's year showing Fallout 4. The fact they have there own conference coming makes me think the team behind New Vegas might be making a new Elder Scrolls title that is just not numbered like New Vegas to. Then there is Dishonored and a ton of possibilities .

Has anyone said or implied that Obsidian is working on an ES game? That'd be very cool, if true.

No but they have to have some big guns and no one knows what Obsidian has been working on since New Vegas which was a huge success. I kind of expected one sooner but with the switch in console generations i could see it having taken longer due to it.

It might just be me and wishful thinking though .

They're mostly working on Armored Warfare (multiplayer tank game, but with modern tanks) and Pillars of Eternity.

I suppose it's possible that they are working on it, though it'd be pretty demanding to develop an open-world RPG with so many other projects. Then again, it might be more of a locally-oriented game, like Redguard or BattleSpire.

That is true but with how they had to fund Pillars of Eternity (a game i cannot wait for ) with New Vegas being a success it gives me some hope that is what they are doing. Wasteland 2 did great though and they are also working on the new Torment title so i could see just how much i am grasping at straws but its hard to be upset with the lineup they are creating .

Actually, inXile Entertainment is working on Torment: Tides of Numenera. But they still keep in touch with other members of the old Interplay crew on Obsidian (plus the two offices are located relatively close to each other).

Correct. The Based Chris Avellone is writing (or at least co-writing) Numenera as a result of a Kickstarter Stretch goal. I'm immensely excited about both that and Pillars.

I'm not convinced Obsidian will get a crack at Fallout 4. Fallout 3 was the big jump into the current Generation (bearing in mind how old the previous 2 Fallout games were) and while it does have a fairly large number of issues with it's narrative and story, I do think Bethesda deserve immense credit for bringing back one of my favourite franchises and getting a whole new ton of people into it. That said, they only then handed off New Vegas - a game that was superior in every way, gameplay and story - to another Developer.

I get the feeling part of the reason Fallout 4 hasn't happened yet is because of when the PS4/XBone launched. I have a hunch that they were maybe a quarter or so into Development and decided they wanted to start over (or largely start over, technical-wise, they almost certainly would of kept the concept and story the same) and make Fallout 4 a "true" Next-Gen release. It will certainly sell units on consoles, there's simply no doubt about that, and PC users will, as ever, be able to Mod it to their hearts content so it's not like the delay would of hurt the PC sales at all.

I'm not bothered (I enjoyed Fallout 3 and NV on both PC and console) but I do get the feeling that's why we've heard nothing. I think it's also likely because of Skyrim being a bigger hit than anyone expected, even knowing Elder Scrolls popularity, they may well of changed their minds regarding certain design choices for Fallout 4 given the amount of feedback they got towards Skyrim, good and bad.
