Not known but it's possible they left her on Jakku because there is an order of Force worshiping priests there that take care of refugees. The Shrek looking dude could have promised to get her there but he instead kept her to do scavenging for him.

Yes but it is very dangerous as it's very addicting and corrupts very quick. The Jedi abhorred it for that reason while other priestly orders try to balance the two sides of the force.

Whatever happened to that SoL podcast? Did it ever get off the ground? That's something we could always come back to. If the forum produced a quality podcast periodically, it would serve as both recruitment fodder and discussion material. Have a couple folks host regularly and invite on guests for fresh voices and perspectives.

Is the force hereditary? Does Rey have to have a Jedi relative?

No, it's not. The only known case it happened was with Anakin's children and grandchildren. But he's space Jesus so maybe that's why it happened.

I like ARM's theory about the Force being a sapient entity that decided it was time to purge its old hosts and use Anakin as the zero point for its new dissemination throughout the galaxy.

You may be right. Even Bendu from Rebels says perhaps it was the will of the Force that the Jedi have fallen.

In the non-canon expanded universe it was more or less the same but the planet itself was a tomb planet for the kings of the ancient Sith species (think Valley of the Kings on a planet wide scale), and numerous dark siders would travel there to loot or learn from the spirits of the ancient Sith Lords residing in the tombs. In the current canon we don't know why there are Egyptian style tombs there, just that the Sith order used it as a main base of operations. Also the Darth Bane spirit Yoda confronts was an illusion created by the Force priestesses to test Yoda. In the current canon Sith, or dark siders mainly, cannot become Force Ghosts. Except for Anakin, duh.

Especially with the whole force tree thing. i mean, its just a giant parasite spreading from host to host.

Question

If an affinity for the force isn't hereditary, why is it that some species are more likely to be born with an high midi-chlorian count? Sith purebloods, for example.

Sith purebloods aren't canon anymore. And the midichlorians were swept under the rug pretty much. Now it's up to blind luck on who gets born with force affinity. Although normal people CAN get in touch with the Force but very little and it takes a lot of training, hence why other force worshiping orders are so withdrawn and very reminiscent of the classic monks.

The purebloods weren't exactly that special except for the nobility. The species were more tune in with the dark side because they were ruled by the exiled dark Jedi, who bred with the Sith nobility, hence why some of them tend to have a very human appearance like Naga Sadow. The nobility were special because they dabbled in the dark side for millennia and had enough knowledge to pass onto future generations to grow more powerful. I think I contradicted myself here a few times but that's what the EU was in a nutshell.

I do like the Sith history a lot. Hope they could turn some of them into canon. Tales of the Jedi actually built up the Sith background really well.

Podcasting sounds like work to me.

I don't have the equipment, experience, or fast enough internet access to do it right.

Omacron is probably your boy for this one... his podcast from way back when was how I found this shithole in the first place.

What kind of training and indoctrination do storm troopers go through?

Mostly the cliche PT bootcamp stuff you see in movies but with more intricate obstacles and more grueling physical exercises. Both men and women can train together and they undergo the same trials. That's why there are so few female ground troopers, but TIE pilots are more diverse as it's more about flying skills rather than physical endurance.

Don't they do it at birth though?

No, those were the clones who were retired after the clone wars. Some surviving clones continued to serve as Stormtroopers, but the rest are conscripted citizens or people who enrolled in the Imperial Army. It's not clear how conscription is enforced and coexists with enrollment.

Going back to the topic: there's no point in putting the politics threads in the Halls of Lordaeron. Either get rid of the politics threads entirely, or put back them in General. The Halls of Lordaeron isn't an effective quarantine when the threads placed there are among the busiest on the forum.

Don't take half-measures.

There's some, shall we say, disagreement, with how the Halls and the political threads have been handled. That said, I know I appreciate any and all feedback on the subject.

Not to mention the fact that people banished to the Halls for flaming these threads are not, in fact, prevented from continuing to flame.
