There is a Kaiju from the godzilla universe named Anguirus. He is a mutated ankylosaurus from Russia. In his debut he put up a damn good fight against Godzilla, but died. Later incarnations made him Godzilla's sidekick or friend. He challenged Gigan, got his butt kicked. He challenged King Ghidora got his butt kicked. He saw Mechagodzilla impersonating Godzilla, got his jaw broken. He always fights kaiju bigger than himself. He has no special powers or abilities aside from backwards jump with his spikes and in Final Wars he could roll into a spikey ball. In Final Wars he teamed up with Rodan, and King Caesar and together the three of them got their butts kicked by Godzilla.

In the past Anguirus charged at King Ghidora in order to protect an unconscious Godzilla. He was also able to reveal mechagodzilla as a fraud before getting his jaw broken. Always willing to charge no matter the cost or who the opponent.

So the question is. Is Anguirus Brave or Stupid?

Brave, because he exposes the enemies weaknesses so Godzilla can go in for the kill, like a true sidekick, he sacrifices his glory for the main characters.

That is awesome. He's a beloved fan favorite even though Toho doesn't give him much love.

Some dude named Marc Cerasini wrote a godzilla book and Anguirus beat Gigan in it.

It was called Godzilla at World's End

There is also a series known as Godzilla Legends. One of the comics in this series featured Anguirus taking on Destroyah himself.
