In order: You weren't always this cantankerous, seems it picked up when you changed jobs a while back and mentioned the physical strain and stress was getting to you (seriously, want to talk about it?). People like me.

I found references in the Story Forums, lurked for about a week before signing up. Given my post frequency I do far more lurking than posting.

That said, thanks for the ideas, gang. Keep it coming.

Out of curiosity, how did all of you find SoL to start posting on it? I first heard of it from the official Story Forums, lurked for a while, and eventually signed on, but where'd everyone else come from and how'd you get here?
I first posted here in order to get more people to read my blog. There was a pretty big gap between that and when I started posting regularly, however.

This place began as Scrolls of Lore. Not gameplay, not politics, not sports, lore. I believe this core tenet should be kept intact, no matter what changes would happen down the road. It does not have to be the lore of Warcraft, or of any Blizzard games for that matter, times change after all, but turning it into a general video game forum that usually attracts gamers not interested in worlds, stories, characters, metaphysics, I feel that would defeat the very purpose this forum was founded for.

So are you saying we should make it into a science fiction/fantasy lore forum?

I always think Diablo lore deserves much more attention.

I guess what I am saying is, you want to turn this place into a nerd haven? Hell do. I would even welcome more focus on history and alternative history theorycrafting.

I agree, I think we must expand the fanwork/fanproject section as well.

I don't want SoL to die with WOW, but I don't think go to a "general forum of whatever shit" was the right way either. Focus on lore and stories might be the best way to go.

I read a wowwiki article on the Second War (depicting events from the ToD novel) and wanted to talk about it. Official forums don't let you join if you don't pay for WoW. I found you guys in a google search.

Warlock used to post on the official forums with a link to this forum in his signature.

Anyway, I think we should rebrand ourselves as the internet's premiere Adam Sandler film lore discussion forum.

A mix of you and Grackle. I first found out about this place on the (I think) WotLK pre-expansion forums where we talked a lot about lore and someone namedropped SoL (this would be, 2008?). I show up but Omacron was then in his maxedge phase and was talking nonchalantly about some disturbing thing or another (note I was a wee lad back then, unspoiled by the internet so my standard of disturbing were way lower) and I thought "man these people are crazy" and I noped the fuck out of here.
Then years later I started talking lore again, now on the Story Forum but that didn't last long because my trial run of MoP ran out so I remembered this place and realized I could talk here for free. I show up, as a Forsaken/Horde fanboy I immediately clashed with Fojar, then I slowly evolved into a filthy Horde-leaning neutral and eventually away from the lore as a whole... aaand here we are pretty much.

I agree with this. The focus should remain on the story. We don't want to be overrun by assholish "gameplay only" types. You know what I mean, the horribly rude for no reason will grief you the best I can, kind. That is not to say gameplay should not be discussed, no there should even be multiple subforums for gameplay like we do now (except also for other games we add to our roster).

But talking about the story should be our trademark and focus.

Though as I've said if we really are going to talk any kind of major overhaul some IRL friend ought to bring Warlock into this discussion. Maybe he is just 100% against moving away from strictly Warcraft lore focus and then all this talk is for naught.

Exactly the same with me. Do we have cross-members still advertising on the Story Forums? I haven't gone to that cesspool in a long, long time.

I don't ever even come to this section. What happens here?

Although I do agree several sections of SoL seem deader. Perhaps the parts could be condensed?
