Yeah Lady Gaga for example has "changed" music but alot of her styles are very much Korean it anoyes me as she gets all of the credit, a majority of Korean singers just need to release there music Internationally and it would be a huge hit everywere but alot of Korea like to be quite exiled from everywere else which is odd as they are all known for loving everywere and are like the ultimate tourists.

Not exactly accurate. Korean pop stars do release their work internationally, but the majority of their fan base remains with their Asian neighbors, Japan and China. Japan has a huge pop market that still favors its own talent, but they eat up Korean pop media all the same.

The language barrier is tougher to break than you think. While we have a few people who posted in this thread that enjoy these Korean artists, there are probably a hundred people in the US to every one of them that will listen to it and the first thing that will come out of their mouth is "I don't know what they're saying".

If there is a market to be tapped, you can be sure that record labels will try to cater to it. There have been lots of Japanese artists, for example, who have attempted to produce English language works in the style of music that made them popular in Japan and have failed to make an impact. It's just really hard to break into an international market without the right combination of luck, timing, and artistic foresight. The foresight part is especially difficult if you're not "native" to the population.

The other option is to have a ridiculous amount of talent and enough money/prominent record label to be able to tout your image enough for people to adore you no matter where you go, like early 90s Michael Jackson.

From what I've read, SM Entertainment has had modest success in the US with a few of their acts. The links I provided to BoA are examples of their english-version dance tracks that got a little airplay here.

These guys aren't stupid - they got big by marketing their stuff to Japan, and they will eventually crack the American and European markets.

However, even the artists their acknowledge that their influences are American acts. Not the other way around. Just because Lady Gaga rips off Madonna and every other pop starlet that came before her doesn't mean her crap is mutant Korean trash. It's mutant American trash. I like the Korean stuff a lot better.

Yep, BoA is a huge superstar in Asia, but so far has had very little attention here. Same with Utada Hikaru, who doesn't really do dance stuff, but she's a very talented singer. Speaks fluent English too, so it's really just a misunderstanding of the market that kept her from doing well more than once. Enjoys moderate success in the video game market though
