Apparently the legacy raid content scaling is broken again with this newest build today. I cleared 25m Firelands yesterday solo without even breaking a sweat and today even the trash is giving me trouble. Nowhere near the same damage numbers.

Question; wasn't the legacy raid scaling meant for dungeons 10+ levels below you or something? So you wouldn't necessarily be able to solo, say, SoO at 100, but going into Firelands or Dragon Soul would be a snap. It could just be that taking effect and throwing things off for people at 90.

Or their fix for the lowbie stuff somehow made things worse, which - judging by the people on their forums going "THE FUCK DID YOU DO!?" - seems to be the case.

New characters that were boosted to lvl 90 after this patch start in a fancy armor from the character creation menu. I'm jelly, cause I've boosted my alt back at summer. Monks even have Chen's trademark hat without any need to deal with the sassy farmers. But the nerdgasm after seeing Awbee alive and well, was worth paying the subscription.

Blood Elves are either going to be the best new models by virtue of having pretty much all of the attention now focused on them as well as not needing to rush them out for expansion launch.

OR.

They're going to be the worst new models because Blizzard want to crank them out ASAP and have the whole affair over and done with.

All things considered the item squish went about as smoothly as I expected, seeing as it was essentially a Mega-Cataclysm revamp for the systems teams. It's good to see that part of the company wasn't terribly upset by the new influx of folks, but then again, mechanically tuning down numbers doesn't exactly come with potential philosophical and creative differences, and it's easy as hell to compartmentalize.

Kinda makes you wonder where all that firepower is going for 7.0 though.

Thats what I'm expecting too. Of course hoping the best models on shortest time. But I suspect that it will be rushed out for WOD launch, if at all.

Well, to be honest, they are fixing things. Look at World Environment/Creatures.
The real question is why was this patch so half-assedly tested.

It's been... interesting. Like, I do see some good in actually making the DPS be aware of what's going on, since healers can't keep them alive through the fire they're standing in, but I also get why it's frustrating for healers to feel like if they look away, everything will go wrong. I did laugh at people whining that they can't watch TV, check their fucking email, or tab out while healing a raid anymore. Like... well, maybe that's a good thing.

Now, the disparity between mobs when it comes to their damage? That's fucking hilarious. Gnomes reporting taking 1-2 damage from mobs, while blood elves... ...yeah...

Yep.

...but keep in mind, it's not every mob doing this, just some of them. It's also being off-set by people killing mobs in 1-2 hits.

Ahahahaha, I've just created a lvl1 belf just in order to repeatedly die to the manawyrms. I'm laughing so hard now.
300 damage! 500 damage! 400 damage! Many wyrms! Now handle it!

EDIT: treants are bugged too.
EDIT#2: as are mana ghosts or whatever they're called.

I figure it’s because they tried to combine automatically adjusting things through algorithms and manually adjusting stats by hand. For example, I feel like player spells/abilities were just run through a number crunch/formula without tweaking the coefficients at certain levels, hence why they’re so weak/powerful in certain situations. Meanwhile mobs and their spells were manually adjusted and certain things got missed and/or there’s just plain old human error in the entry (those mana wyrms strike me as having an extra 0 put on the end, since they never hit that hard pre-squish). So some things are inevitably going to match up poorly, though I dunno why pre-60 was touched up as much as it was. I figured they’d just squish everything else down to a linear progression starting from lvl 60 but meh.

It sucks because in a database of hundreds of thousands of NPCs and spells, there’s inevitably going to be errors and crossed lines of code. And for every borked mana wyrm, there’s dozens if not hundreds of NPCs that are working fine, but nobody notices those. Just the screw ups. Personally I haven’t encountered anything broken outside of ICC gunship and heroic spine, but that’s soloing legacy content, which should always come with a grain of salt.

Also I have no idea what I’m talking about here and pulling all of this entirely out of my ass.

EDIT: According to Watcher they removed all base damage lines to make everything % based on attack/spell power only. I'd guess that's the main cause of any wonkiness, especially if that applied to NPC abilities as well.
