TBH, I think a lot of the Skyrims problem is that its too open and thus quests and character feels disjointed
Well good thing your opinions are always awful.

Seriously, if you want to play a card game you should play Hearthstone or Shadowverse.

Shadowverse frequently gives out free card packs, but be aware that you need multiple copies of legendary cards in order to be really competitive. Top meta decks can run anywhere from 3-15 legendaries in a deck of 40.

Almost everything Oblivion did wrong, Shivering Isles did right.

It really does feel like a single-player MMO.

This so much. The Skyrim Dark Brotherhood was so disappointing in comparison.

Are there any good Skyrim or Oblivion mods you guys use? Other than my first play through of Oblivion I haven't really been able to get into the games.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm thoughts:

-It's still amazing how LiS managed to take the "cringy" dialogue in the first episode, and make it such a beloved charm of the series that we now have graphics settings like "hella high," and that this game showing us why Chloe keeps saying that manages to be one of its more emotional moments.

-While no replacement for the time travel gameplay, the "backtalk" replacement is interesting. Hopefully it'll get used a bit more and be made more in depth in the later episodes.

-While sort of a retcon, the explanation that Blackwell is a regular high school that also has a dormitory senior/semi-college program makes a lot more sense than the first game having everyone apparently being in the same class for multiple years despite Blackwell being a seniors only school.

-Chloe's personality and more negative traits in the first game are explained very well here, the characterization we get of Max especially makes her clingyness and selfishness towards her in the first game make so much more sense.

-While I know it was due to the voice actor strike and couldn't be helped, it's still sad that most of the voice actors were replaced. Though the replacements all do pretty good jobs.

-After how much she was built up, it's interesting getting to finally see Rachel Amber. She's an interesting character, coming off like some kind of manic pixie dream girl who may or may not only be pretending to be one to get something out of Chloe.

-Speaking more on Rachel, it's pretty clear the developers at least want you to think she's got powers of some sort, but I wonder if she also has rewind powers. People keep mentioning how perfect she is, always knowing what to do and what to say, and I don't think its possible to loose to her at Two Truths and Lie...

-The Dungeons and Dragons game segment was amazing.

I don't play GTA: Online very consistently, but when I do it's great.

The other day I spent 30 bucks to get some of those virtual moneys, because I saw that Rockstar had combined my favourite two vehicles in the GTA series with a recent update; a flying motorcycle.

So now I swoosh around town on my red gliding bike, dressed like a homeless-looking superhero in balaclava and traditional slavic Adidas pants, shooting machine guns and revving my turbocharged jet engine. It's hella dope.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong is just so damn good. And I'm not just saying that 'cause you can punch a god in the face.

What! What's wrong with you, you Hlaalu bastard? It's magic and mythic cycles and cyberpunk all at once! What's not to get into?

Have you tried Hong Kong? Or any of the games by Harebrained Schemes for that matter?

I will admit that my experience with Shadowrun was somewhat poisoned by a friend of mine in middle school, who was a bit too enthusiastic about the setting.

Somehow the weird mix of cyberpunk and fantasy just never clicked for me. My brain just goes "nope" at the thought of an elven hacker. And I'm not criticizing Shadowrun here; this is one of those cases where I freely admit it's my problem, not the game's, particularly since I'm willing to accept far stranger juxtapositions in other settings.

This game is still nowhere near ready and not even to the point where I'm willing to throw money at it (maybe next sale), but I'm really liking the idea of it.

That sucks. You sure you wouldn't like to try Hong Kong? 20 bucks on Steam, bound to show up on sale at some point, and setting aside just an all around good game. Maybe give you some new associations to make with the setting?

Maybe I'll check it out in the next winter sale.

Really disappointed that this is VR only:

I love this "nostalgia horror" genre that FNaF has spawned/popularized. We've gotten some really interesting concepts for horror games rather than just zombies or aliens thanks to games like FNaF, Tattletail, Bendy, and now Duck Season.

Gunpoint was a fantastic game with brilliant writing and an entertaining game mechanic. I'm less convinced about this one because it doesn't seem to have as much room for the writing, but it still looks pretty fun.

Sure?

I haven't played Hong Kong yet but Dragonfall is a fucking amazing RPG. The characters are excellently well done, the story is tight and it plays in Berlin. One of the characters is a punk rock shaman, ffs!
The game has some slog moments (the Matrix can get a bit boring and there's some towards the end) but overall, one of the best RPGs I payed in a while.

“I was the front man for a punk band, boss. Fuck no, I can’t sing.”

Hong Kong is amazing, but very different in terms of story. I think that's actually to the studio's credit (being able to tell different stories in the same world), but if you're looking for the same themes but in Hong Kong, you might be disappointed.

It is, however, significantly easier to play than Dragonfall. The interface is all kinds of cleaned up and there are lots of quality of life changes. If you're going to play both, play Dragonfall first, because it will be really hard to go back after Hong Kong.

One moment I really like in Hong Kong is this incidental conversation you can have with your foster brother/oldest friend where you basically just play a practical joke on him, absent of any and all context. Just because! It feels so refreshingly natural, and it's so unusual to find stuff like that in games. Where your character can just act like a person.

Hob, from Runic games, the makers of Torchlight, is looking very good

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-09-26-hob-review

Quote:

Hob's world is a mechanism: a beautiful, delicate thing of dials and pulleys and clamps and switches. It is intricate, and it is precise, and as you play through Hob the world you move through is never far from your thoughts. You descend beneath its copper and slate crust at times to slot ancient machinery together. When a gate will not rise, you pace backwards through the grass, following the trail of unlit diodes that will lead you back to a dormant battery that needs charging. You pull things, you twist things, you ram things home. The world is a lock that you are slowly picking, each tiny piece of hard-won progress sending new pins bouncing, or new tumblers turning. No wonder the sword you wield looks like a key.

Oh yes, and there is something more. If the world is a lock, someone has jammed it with bubblegum.
