They did, in BotH.

I doubt I'll convince you, though, and it really doesn't matter, so I'll leave it at this.

BotH mostly happened after the Scourge invasion.

Before, during and after. In fact, it also shows us that some elves were still capable of wielding the Light after others, like Liadrin, believed to have been abandoned by it.

I'll stop for real, now.

The before was about some mission, I don't remember she abandoned it.

It didn't help them drive out the Scourge, if it was more powerful than the energy they drained later they would have no reason to do it.

Actually, I'm with 'poke on this one. All indication around the time of TBC was that corrupted species were simply incapable of using the light, with only a single rare, unexplained anomaly to the rule (zeliek).
The whole 'it's all about willpower' thing that came later feels incredibly flimsy to me since the statements during TBC were so damn absolute regarding that the BE and the broken had just lost the light entirely. Frankly, it kinda devalues their story, because it stops being about them having such a great and divine power taken away from them and having to find a new way to the glory of old, and instead becomes "well, they just didn't try hard enough".

Blood knights are just boring edgy paladins.

You know, at this point I have to ask what everyone is thinking.

What do you actually like?

EDIT:

@IJ, agreed.

I have nothing constructive to add since I think Blood Elves have had enough meat on their plate compared to other races.

Eh, it'll turn back eventually.

One of the big things I'm wondering about is what we're gonna see of the naaru, but AU and MU. Hell, we might even see the iron horde equivalent of blood knights.

No, you missunderstand. He wants to get it one with the Blood elf Girl - not the guy who cosplays as Anduin.

The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.

No one ever said elves are nice.
Elves are bad.

I always wanted to cosplay as something but I don't know how to make a costume. I think a ghost from Starcraft would be really cool.

I'd go as D3 male Demon Hunter because I fucking love the Van Helsing/medieval Punisher type of look.

I hope I'm not the only one who wants the Blood Knights to have their own crusades. I don't want them to become jolly good white knights.

I'd go as a Warhammer vampire. Because their armors are badass.

Yeah, if it's just the willpower, then why didn't the demons use it? because they think it's weak compare to demon magic? Which means the Army of Light is shit?

You could probably pass it off as a San'layn Death Knight costume.

I have no issue with his opinion Liadrin's change is crap. In fact, I liked the dastardly Blood Knights too and would've liked it if they stayed that way. It's just the lore-reasons that I don't agree with, given the current canon.

Also, sorry belorealah.

@Smoke: That would be great, but I'd like all of the orders, besides maybe the Sunwalkers, to have their own crusades. Not just the Blood Knights.

The Thunder Isle assault could have been a crusade. Maybe I'll make this a headcanon one day.

So you agree with Liadrin's 180 degrees change is bad?

I didn't like it, but I don't consider it bad if we take the newer lore into consideration. Just somewhat disappointing since I like the class as it was in BC.

Is it really fair to call it a bad turn when she hasn't had a fair chance to do anything... at all... since it happened?

I have always liked this...

"The light sustains us, and it will ease the heaviest of burdens. To think it has abandoned us is pure folly."
