Default Venezuela

I'm assuming you read my previous posts on the spam thread. If you didnt you can ask but i feel too nervious in this very moment to write the whole story

Maduro is being named president right now, without the complete audit (which is pretty much impossible anyway since God knows how many boxes did they dispose). There have been some disturbs and sackings in my town, so malls and stores downtown are closed. There're some rumours of coup backing Capriles (and the rightful result of the elections) but i'm not sure of their veracity.

:-(

I feared this would happen. Stay safe. Keep us posted. Not much media attention for it up north I'm afraid... especially not after what happened in Boston today.

If all else fails pick up an AK-47 and yell "For the Banshee Queen!" before igniting the revolution.

I imagine.

Yesterday they took down the main internet service for some minutes. Since they're government owned, and they also are the providers of the telephonic service, I fear that was a test for a "Blackout"

I also fear a coup, since if Maduro wins, then he'll be legitimized (i think, though he's already president, he's giving his speech right now). I don't think we'll have a coup today, but the atmosphere is getting similar to April 2002.

My university is also next to the local CNE (the voting organism) building and the opposition is rallying people to go there tomorrow (since the CNE president didn't give a fuck about the audit and named Maduro president. she was suppsed to do it on April 19) I fear of going to classes.

Edit: edit, CNE president says they won't recount votes, maduro says that wating to recount the votes is an attemp of coup (he accepted the recount yesterday/today (idk how say madrugada in english :p)

Just skip classes tomorrow, better safe than sorry.

So wait. Recount = coup?

These socialists need to get their priorities straight. I mean come on, I'm pretty liberal but that's ridiculous.

He's saying that if the recount doesn't happen, he's afraid people will do something about it.

It honestly depends on the status of the military.

Do you think they could be easily paid off? Any disgruntlement in their ranks?

^Apparently governement owned. Right now they're stationed blocking several places and have dissolved some protests with tear gas bombs and petards (not sure if that's the right word)

According to Maduro, yes.

I wouldn't even blame socialism, i'm not even sure if this thing can be called socialism. But yeah, Dithon is right too. The fact that te CNE died to make to make the recount, the rushed naming of Maduro and the burning of the vote boxes make obvious what happened

I know there was a coup de'tat about 10 years ago but it fell apart pretty quick because it was a bunch of old rich white men who took over.

Yep. April 11th, 2002. I was 8 so I details are blurry. Chavez quitted but a general (which he later sent to jail or tried to, i dont remember if he succeeded) made him come back. Apparently the poor people from ghettos suported him (April 13). The man who said that Capriles had quitted was a military so idk.

But Chavez is dead and Capriles won in the biggest ghettos of Venezuela (Catia, Petare, 23 de Enero)

In fact, there's a saying that is more or less like this (or this is the meanig at least) "If you won Catia, you won the presidency"

I read about it at the time so basically it was a bunch of rich old guys(so a bunch of Bolvars) who took over and every normal person was like "da fuq" and threw them back out for Chavez.

This sounds like its less about left wing or ring wing and more about authoritarianism.

Sadly, I'm not surprised that Capriles lost. It sounds like things were stacked against him by a pretty significant degree.

Sorry to hear that you'll have to deal with this longer, GenyaArikado. As has already been said, stay safe.

Tomorrow people willl protest in front of the CNE buildings in every state. I feel like crying, i'm so frustrated since I can't go because of this fucking eye surgery, if they start throwing tear gas bombs or if get hitten in the face I might fuck it up.

Technically it's the smart thing to do, but damn, i feel like a fucking coward. While others will be pressing for our rights, i will be at home doing nothing. I feel so....arghhhhh

Try to find some ways to drum up support or make your voice heard from home, if you can. I know you want to protest but I don't think it's wise to possibly jeopardize your long-term health in the process. Don't feel like a coward for being smart and thinking about your health, you'll just end up driving yourself crazy.

Wear ski-shades. Or this wide version of swimming goggles.

Try to keep yourself in the back. If anything gassy happens this and the goggles will most likely let you get away without eye damage.

But... you know... better stay at home. It's safer.

The President of the Supreme Court talked early. Her words kinda hint that they want to put Capriles in jail.

Maduro's talking now. He prohibited tomorrow's march, asked the private TV channels to take a side, compared Chavez to Christ and Capriles to Hitler, said that they where attacking chavists and said "Viva Socialist Cuba".

After all that he called himself a democrat. I'd rather be USA's government hooker than Cuba's

While he's talking, the Universidad Central de Venezuela is attacked by chavists.

Capriles is talking now. In 500+ voting centers assisted voting was reported (chavists checking how x people voted) which is illegal and compromises around over 1.400.000 millions of votes.

Also many centers ended up with much more votes than they where supposed to have (for example a center with 500 ppl ended up with 700 votes)

Capriles cancelled tomorrow's march.
