The only people supporting it are using shitty anecdotal evidence to support why Need Before Greed is a better system. A select few people from WoWInsider are claiming they never got any loot from personal loot, and they've finally been getting loot again with Need Before Greed, as if their shitty RNG was somehow caused by the loot system. It's kind of infuriating to listen to because they don't seem to realize that the personal loot system makes them mathematically more likely to get a piece of loot from a boss than Need Before Greed. It's just insanity.

Yep. The worst part is they kept the massive boss loot table so you have a 1/54 shot (average) of getting what you want to even drop. You then have to contend with, lets say, 2 people rolling against you for it. The math places you less likely to get an item then you are to get a rare mount.

Also whoever thought to bring back MC as an LFR today and keep every single mechanic is a psychopath.

Unfortunately based on the comments from CMs on Twitter, it was those handful of anecdotal evidence people that Blizzard was listening to.

Also, don't forget there's no such thing as healer/tank/DPS gear anymore. Just plate/mail/leather/cloth. Now everybody shares loot and everybody needs what everybody else needs. The loot tables are tailored to personal loot, with their huge amount of various varieties (no pun intended) of the same item.

They should have kept personal loot à la LFR, with popup toast and automatical picking up the item and placing it in your bag. A consolation prize of gold, garrison resources and/or apexis crystals, crafting materials relevant to your profession would have been an awesome addition to the already great system.

As one poster on MMO-Champion said, they listened to the feedback... but not to the right one.

People are putting a bunch of petitions up on the WoW forums to bring back the LFR style loot system.

I signed off on them since I don't want to go back to the ninja looting. I had no problem with the LFR systems and was quite surprised to be getting a lot more loot then I would've when rolling my spec against everyone's off spec.

And here is something else wonderful, evidenly you can roll need on gear that is out of your class like in the low level zones, so druids are getting upset that retadins are rolling need on +ag gear.

That's awfully hybristic of you to say.

I for one like the Need/Greed-system. It brings a bit of excitement to the game to have to roll against other players, and if you do get the item you can tease the ones who didn't. You get a feeling of fake accomplishment. If you always get a usable piece of gear from every boss you run, with no competition of rolls, getting loot loses its' charm.
The best time I've ever had raiding was during early WotLK, when I off-tanked Naxxramas, and kept getting outrolled every time the feral staff dropped. And because I never got the staff I had a reason to go back and run through Naxxramas each and every week. Had I gotten the staff on my first run, and a bunch of other loot from all the other bosses, I would lose interest in the raid quickly. Kind of how I lost interest in MoP-raiding, because basically every time I killed a boss I got an upgrade.

But I guess I'm not the right kind of person to give feedback on this stuff.

And the pendulum swings back again!

EDIT: damn, that's what I get for not refreshing the page before posting.

Drusus, may I ask you a question? Why are you still playing WoW? It must be quite frustrating to play through a storyline you dislike, knowing that nothing will ever satisfy you, mainly because of the annoying two-faction sytem. It seems strange to me that you pay for ths game- more money, you could spend on a good book, more time to read a good book. I know that you have more hobbies than "just" WoW. but what is your motivation to play? The social aspect?

I think it might be the dopamine released in his brain when levelling up.

I thought we're all masochists and that's why we're still playing.

So it's because of the dopamine released in the brain whenever we feel painsome feels because the lore is lulzworthy or Blizz makes a gameplay change that don't jive with our vision of how the game should be designed.

But I want to outroll strangers and laugh at them until the end of the dungeon. I don't get what I want.

Then just troll /2 and put a random group together and then outroll them on main/off spec stuff.

Another thing I like about personal loot is that I can use the loot specialization option for gearing alternative specs as well.
