Welp the Socialist party enacted a law to get it's clique and anyone accused of corruption, including non-violent theft out of prison, and the population is on the brink of revolution because of it. And now the streets will be crawling with the specimens getting out of prison. This will get ugly.

Today, I learned about the efficient market hypothesis, or EMH. The acronym always makes me think of "Emergency Medical Hologram". Moving on...

The idea behind EMH is that new information is quickly incorporated into market prices, and that prices reflect all available information. People disagree as to the degree to which EMH reflects prices. Some argue that it only reflects public information, while others say that it reflects public and private (since private or inside information still has an effect).

Basically, EMH states that prices on the market are accurate reflections of value, and thus can't be beat. Many brokers obviously disagree, and spend their careers trying to beat the market. Fewer than half of fund managers can beat the market over a long period of time, which suggests that they depend pretty heavily on luck. At the same time, consistently successful investors show that there may be viable strategies. Likewise there are patterns in the market. Upturns tend to follow lengthy downturns.

Nor can EMH account for anomalies like the January effect. This is where stocks tend to rise during the month of January. As a result, investors buy early in the month and then sell later. However, by getting involved, investors have gradually destroyed the January effect as they start to invest even earlier (in December), which negates the anomaly.

So the debate hasn't been settled, and probably never will. Basically, if you think you can beat the system, you need to closely observe your favored companies and see if you can infer their activities. If you're like me and don't want to spend that much time and effort, you buy into mutual funds that are spread across the market in reliable industries.

It hasn't gotten violent yet but everyone is up in arms about it, whole companies, celebrities, even all other parties held signs with ''Shame'' at the parliament today. These guys literally acted as kings for a day. And now say a boss tells his secretary to have sex with him if she wants a raise, and fires her after she declines then he can't get charged with anything. We may not have ''immigrants'' but we will have criminals walking the streets again. A shame really we were on a road to better ourselves and now we've been set back into the 90s again. By the same party made up of former supporters of Ceausescu and collaborators of his secret police. The same one that tried to silence our voices on the internet a year before. It's this why I can't take European/American left communists seriously seeing how much it fucked us up the ass to this day. I don't know what will happen but fuck I'm tired of everything.

American communists have the luxury to believe something edgy like that because they are sheltered and spoiled. I am really sorry.

You only have two "democratic" options. Wait and hope for change in the next election or force a new election. Now.

I just got a call. The woman on the other end offered a confused "Hello?". When I responded, she laughed, and apologized for the confusion; she was apparently having trouble with her headset.

She started talking about some kind of vacation deal, which I declined. As I said no, she continued to talk, and I realized she was automated. An automated caller that feigned a communication error in order to sound more realistic.

My jimmies are thoroughly rustled.

I like to stay on the line to talk to a real person. I tell them I have bad signal and ask for a number to call them back on (they spoof caller ID) to add to the FCC reports I file. They're usually aware of that and dodge it, though.
I just fuck with them after that.

Yeah. After questioning a few of these scammers ("You don't have a phone number? How are you calling me if you don't have a phone number, 'Steve?'") and filing FCC complaints, I don't get nearly as many as I used to. With the ones that do still call, a lot of them hang up when they hear my voice now.

As I work for a call center, you got me curious - what made you believe it was an automated call?

Because believe you me, for seeing those sub-humans 8 hours a day, they really sound more like machines than humans when they work.

Kind of like you had sucked all the creativity out and replaced it with a faked smile and a standardized flowchart.

Because when I responded, by saying that I wasn't interested, she continued talking as if she hadn't heard me. Zero reaction on her part.

It could be that she was just trying to talk over you and hoped to convince you.

I had a friend who worked a gig like that, and his bosses told him not to let the customers get a word in until he'd done his whole routine.

Eeeeeeeeexactly. No isn't enough. They're trained not to care about "no" unless they have a pre-written counterargument. They're not machines per se (they're way dumber), but close enough.

A good idea is to check if your country has some kind of free "no-call" list. We have one here in Belgium and it's actually mandatory to upload and obey. We got a few strongly worded police letters, it seems the fines go in the tens of thousand.

Genuinely think I'll need to cut Warcraft entirely out of my life for my own sanity.

Well, I hope its fraud/abuse and not shitty care. then you can take action.

My parents were in a car accident a year ago (I mentioned it then), and my mom still hasnt been seen for her sore neck, my dad is waiting on back surgery to be approved, with three disks slipped. Literally he's in a wheelchair because he keeps falling.

I say this, because they are just getting shitty service, and I really hope thats not the case with you.
