I had ~20k in tracks (not including variations, covers, and live versions of the same songs, which adds at least another 10k) to go through. If I can whittle that down to 15, I think everyone can.

Sent in mine, 13 songs. Couldn't decide on the last two. I may choose later tonight though as I flip back and forth on these, but until then, felt the 13 I had were the ones I wanted.

edit: Actually decided on two, so I'm to 15 now

Arakiba is live here right now! Also realized there were only 14 songs in my playlist, honestly its one rule for the mods and another for everyone else!

Thank ya

I spent quite a bit of time (when I wasn't carrying furniture to and fro, or driving for hours, anyway) thinking of what songs to choose. Was harder than I expected for a good many of them.

Sadly I couldn't actually find the version of one song that I really wanted (Santiago by Loreena McKennitt). The original CD version is perfectly fine and I love it too, but the version in her Live in Paris and Toronto CD has a good deal more energy. Both versions make me want to dance, but the Live version even more so. I learned not to put the song on when I'm cleaning because before too long I'm more just dancing to it than cleaning.

Been poking through everyone else's lists as well, many good choices, and varied too.

Yus there's a good sense of theme there in the choices, Teddybears is a cool way to start it.

The kantus mix is good to listen to while playing Diablo 3: Spammer of Affixes.

Dam That River followed by Honey Bucket is just A+++

And hey Sarah! Could you maybe change my Kithkin song to No Eyes? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1hLrtjMfKY) Those folks put on one heck of a live show, but the KEXP recording just doesn't do them justice.

Thank you for the kind words, I hope you like it

Though in the end, I had to cut some parts of my musical repertoire to make the playlist a smoother ride. I wish I put in more 80s pop/disco, maybe a bit more funk and newer music. Not to mention I had to completely forgo classical and most of the lpcal tunes I wanted to put in because of lack of space and playlist cohesion.

I suppose there is next time, and the Song a Day thread in the mean time.

So far I've covered three playlists and since that is close to what a normal SoL playlist has I will do my top 5 for the playlists of Sarah, Pori and Anansi:

1. The Kinks - I'm Not Like Everybody Else
2. The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - Navigator
3. The Black Keys - Never Gonna Give You Up
4. The Decemberists - Calamity Song
5. Jesse Winchester - Step by Step

Some honourable mentions: Radiation City - Summer Rains (very good, almost made the cut), Path of Exile Song, then Man on Fire and The Kooks' song.

Also there are songs I knew from before like the classics Anansi submitted, Wye Oak's Civilian, the Red Hot song, Gorillaz and Daft Punk song from Pori...

Some finishing thoughts:

-Pori was certainly right that his was quite hipsterish , but it was also very chill and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

-Anansi's playlist was quite heavy on video game/nerd songs which are fine and all but just not as good when you don't have the emotional ties from experiencing those source works. Of course there were a few songs I liked, and I appreciate the classics (I sadly didn't have room to squeeze mine in this run).

-Sarah's songs chimed best with me and I liked quite a bit of them. On average though many songs while great and something I would not mind listening to were just too slow for my tastes, but to each his own of course

All in all, I love these playlists we have because they are such an awesome opportunity to hear great music. And so, I am off to hear more!

Yup, glad he snuck them in there. I really wanted to add them in myself, but couldn't find one that jived reasonably with the mine.

I'll say this much, right now my top two favorites submitted are C9's and yours. Can't beat the classics I guess.

So I've finished 3 more playlists (Cantus' and 2xAneurysm ()) and its time for another top5:

1. Morphine - The Night (darkly smooth)
2. Lionel Richie - All Night Long (80s pop goodness)
3. Azrachel - Garden of Earthly Delights
4. Dam That River - Alice in Chains
5. Rage Against the Machine - New Millennium Homes

Honorable mentions: Bonobo - Cirrus, The Doors - Cristal Ship (almost made the cut), David Bowie - Starman, Massive Attack - Pray for Rain, The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon.

Also lots of stuff I knew from before: Pearl Jam - Even Flow, The Prodigy song, Black Sabbath - Wizard... In fact Aneurysm reused a lot of songs from past Scrolls of Lore playlists which is not wrong, just a bit underwhelming.

-Cantus' playlist I liked quite a bit, I would have liked it even more if I was in the mood for metal and rap/d'n'b... but I wasn't and so that part of the playlist didn't do too much for me at the time. But yeah, overall I liked it quite a bit

-I generally enjoy Aneurysms contributions quite a lot, and nothing changed this time around. We have somewhat similar tastes so I get to enjoy a lot of songs. The only thing that sucked was the amount of repeats as I've mentioned.

I'd also like to say that these "reviews" take some amount of effort to make. I hear everything out, I think things through and I give you all my opinions. I know we all love to hear feedback and to hear that people like our stuff, that is why I think people entering these events should invest some time to say what they think of other people's stuff. That will increase enjoyment for all, get more people interested and make these musical events come more often.

Next up, Rufin, Torch and Skytotem
