Default Sticky Plz

I need input! (well, that and i'll do my damndest to keep this thread on page 1 short of actually spamming spam!)

I may or may not have built myself into a corner. No biggy; i can probably salve both the Shuttle Depot and the Main Shuttle Bay, along with all of the Bridge Dome Module and... mooooost of the Primary Hull Processing Deck. But if i want to get some crew quarters going on i'd have to gut the entire Air Circulation System and a good chunk of what is right now considered to be the C-Deck. Should i go for new, salvage what i can and do the rest again or just axe crew quarters?

Come to think of it i could just use a second file to test... i need answers!

I guess i could lay a pipeline around a corridor...

edit: and while you're at it throw in some good ideas for youtube documentary-watching. This is going to be a long night.

Type EWSS-2 Shuttlecraft "Sonnenburg", NCC-100431-C/SC01 shortly before it's maiden voyage (which got cut short because the Landing Gear ripped the ship apart. Thanks for not fixing those for months, Keen!)

Also i once woke up and decided to work on my balls of steel (blocks).

Doing a little bit of Galaxy Class-streaming on http://www.twitch.tv/herrrotalhenricsson out of sheer boredom.

Thinking about calling my thread over on the Keen board "The Shipbuilder's Guide To The Galaxy". Thoughts?

The Shipbuilder's Guide To The Galaxy.
A personal account of building at large while dealing with early Space Engineers.

I appreciate the beauty inherent to the wedge/dagger shape. Much more clean then the Rebel Alliance's bulbous Mon Cal Star Cruiser

Although the Subjugator-class heavy cruiser had a certain... animalness about it...

Star Citizen is also on my radar. Probably one of the reasons why I'm building a new computer in order to handle all of the pretties.
While the SSDs are a league of their own, my favorite Star Destroyer design is still Venator. The way it combines characteristics of both a "precursor" and a modern futuristic ship just makes me love it. They look the best in Imperial Gray, IMHO:

I'm recording a few update videos of my Galaxy and i'm trying to stick to one song per band to not be too repetitive. However that means i'm steadily running out of bands. Anyone got a few suggestions?

If the game's engine wasn't so damn crappy my Space Engineers-version could at least look somewhat great with mods but this is just embarassing me in front of everyone. Yes, yes, it's not held back by a goddamn block-based system and/or a shit engine but... look at this.

LOOK AT THIS.

I mean that's it, dudes win. Dude's fucking win "Galaxy Class".

Let's just say that there is a reason why ships are called "she/her". Not even starships are immune.

That's a whole bunch of lounges for lazy bums but not much in the way of actual starship work space. Where's the engine room? Sickbay? Research labs? The battle bridge? Transporter Room?

That's because he only has the first four or five Decks done yet, which includes Deck 03 and 04 which is mostly Hangar Bay One plus Shuttle Depot. Main Engineering is on Deck 36 in the Secondary Hull. Sickbay is on Deck 07, 08 or 09, i can't remember exactly but it sits somewhere in the middle of the Saucer. Research labs are sprinkled all over the Saucer Section. The Battle Bridge sits on the top of the Cobrahead Section on Deck 08. There are multiple Transporter Rooms all over the ship; pretty sure they start on Deck 05 and i wouldn't be surprised if Hangar Bay One has a few Cargo Transporters that the video just didn't show in detail.

Still...this makes you realize what a fucking waste of space this ship actually was.

The D, in terms of functionality, was the equivalent of the Loveboat, compared to the E.

What Miffy says isn't actually far from the truth - keep in mind that they had to carry around over a thousand souls and i can tell you from my own version that, if you cram most of that into the Primary Hull (the Secondary has crewquarters too but those are mostly redundant / unused ones in case of a Saucer Separation or for evacuations) there is surprisingly little space for all of that. Then add labs, add Holodecks, add Crustacean Ops if you are inclined to take it as canon, keep in mind that the Main Shuttle Bay alone eats up a deck and most of a second, add the ginormous Sick Bay... and then there was all that space (about 33 percent of the Primary Hull iirc) that they left empty for future expansion. I know she doesn't look it but the D was positively crammed.

I spent most of the last week tweaking the entire Secondary Hull of the Tapping. She's not exactly canon-material but i'm starting to get to the point where i can't do more without modded blocks. Could probably do a better job on the middlemost part of the Secondary, the actual Engineering Section. It's at this point the oldest part of the ship and it kinda shows. I've tried to get the angles and curves more accurate but... the goddamn angular block system completely cockblocks that.
