Default Lich King Bolvar Fordragon is the ultimate weapon

TL;DR: Med'an before Med'an was a thing.

Bolvar Fordragon is a paladin who, after being killed and raised in undeath by Arthas, was continuously being tortured by the Lich King's dark energies. He never gave in, however, thanks to Alexstrasza's flames.

Let's get started.

1: started off as a paladin. Holy Light.

2: killed by the plague and re-raised. Undeath.

3: blessed by Alexstrasza's flames (which in turn was blessed by Eonar, a titan). Let's call this one a Titan Blessing.

In Legion we learn (I don't recall the exact moment, sorry) that the plague of Undeath is a coalescence of both Fel and Void energies. It's connected to both the Burning Legion and the Void Lords.

Well, then we have a figure that has the essence of the light, of demons, of the void, and of titans on himself?

Seems pretty interesting to me. Your thoughts?

You think theyd take control from Bolvar?

That's his excuse, at least.

Considering that some Scourge forces are still independent from him, I'd say that that's believable.

Was it really due to Alexstrasza's flames? I always thought it was because he had a legendary willpower.

The Scourge doesn't seem to operate very well from a defensive stance. It has to be fighting and killing an enemy that can be added to its own ranks to really function properly, and demons don't seem to be susceptible to undeath, probably because they don't actually die when they're killed.

Remember what Kel'thuzad said in WC3 about the dreadlords driving the Scourge to ground. As soon as the momentum was gone and the Scourge stopped adding new corpses to the ranks, it stalled out and became vulnerable.

Moreover, not even Ner'zhul was able to just have the Scourge pounce on the remaining demons once Archimonde was defeated. It seemed that the dreadlords were able to override the Lich King's control over the undead in their general vicinity, and this Legion invasion's got a ton of powerful dreadlords in it.
