Default Historical riding animal domestication #3

Wandering through the sinai desert, you suddenly slip through the sand, finding yourself in a long-buried temple built by Ramses the Great. You try to leave, but the door is locked. However, there are three buttons next to the exit, each with an animal glyph over it. Somehow, you know that pressing one of these buttons will result in a nigh-identical history merging with our own, with the only difference being the domestication of an additional animal for the purposes of serving as a mount.

Do you press the zebra glyph, the giraffe glyph or the ostrich glyph?

I pick Ostrich. What's the description of my terrible and agonizing death?

Orb of Lightning

Ostrich is the only reasonable choice.

Pretty sure that the posts above mine is wrong, but what can you expect from someone whose race mechanised striders?

I'm torn. On the one hand, we owe zebras, because equids are our bros.

On the other, giraffe would be a nice change of pace, plus they're an ungulate, so they're about as close to moose as we're going to get here.

So giraffe, I guess.

I choose the zebra, not because of any practical reason, but because people have been clamoring for additional skins and textures for their mounts to look fab.

Giraffe, because if it's popularized as a riding animal it might also lead to conservation efforts of other animals like elephants and things.

And Ostriches are reverse furries so that'd just be weird.

Voting for zebra is throwing your vote away. Vote for giraffe to put an end to this ostrich menace.

Ostriches would be attracted to me and I just don't want to deal with that

From what I've gathered the people voting for giraffes are worried that they might be attracted to ostriches or vice-versa.

You people disgust me.

How about the people voting for ostriches and the people voting for zebras should come to some form of an agreement, and form a coalition against the weird giraffe-riding people? I'm sure there'll be some way to compromise, like riding ostriches during the even number weeks, and zebras during the odd.

That would be ideal but between my stunning good looks and innate animal attraction its a near impossibility

Besides, what about all the other people who have to deal with the ostriches?

Not only that, there's also the fact that you don't seem to grasp the very obvious detriment of riding on the back of an animal with a two metres long neck. I think it'd be very impractical not seeing where you're going. Or maybe you've got some side cart thing in mind, I don't know.

At least riding an ostrich you'd be able to see in front of you, at least until the oversized raptor monster grows tired of your shit, knocks you to the ground, and maims you to death.
