Seriously, did Metzen actually say Varian and Jaina were going to be our "Go-to Alliance" badasses and then just scrap the plan entirely? Because as of right now I'm still not thoroughly convinced...

They're the two most prominent Human characters around at the moment, but I'm not sure Metzen said that about Jaina.

I think that Varian was pretty good in this, and I'm actually glad that Varian wasn't flanderized into the "Orc-hater" that he's usually made into.

I actually liked it, quite a bit. A bit too much ham perhaps but it was an enjoyable read. Wish we'd have seen more of Jaina but the father/son moments were as touching as anything ever will be in a WoW story.

The battle was pretty cool too, forgot Anduin could use a bow and I was reminded of some warrior/priest duos I used to admire in-game.

Personally, this beats Garrosh' story by a bit.

I very briefly got my hopes up that something interesting might be about to happen when we got a brief glimmer of political unrest in the begining to mid section.

Then it was forgotten in favour of reminding us that Stormwind is generic good vs evil fantasy narm.

Why must Stormwind continue to have all the depth and complexity of a puddle?

I rather liked the story. Quite interesting and satisfying, to my mind.

The writing was a tad sub-par, but hey, you can't have everything.

Benedictus is a boss.

It's good to see the ol' Gnomeregan steam crank getting some love.

I thought it was cool to see the two Wrynns instantly lapse into a muted discussion of the impending ambush.

Curse you, game mechanics, always ruining the moment!

UTHER LIGHTBRINGER AND ANDUIN LOTHAR FTW!

These are my thoughts.

With a war cry from the depths of the Maelstrom, Varian spun in a whirlwind of deadly blades, sundering armor and then decapitating both assassins simultaneously, their shocked expressions never changing as their heads fell to the earth.
That line made me laugh for quite a few seconds.

Personally, I want to see Anduin ditch the bow and just rely on his Priest abilities for offense.

I'm wondering about this "leader of humanity" thing. Did the other Human leaders in the Alliance grant him special political power?

This came to mind as well. -_-;; It totally ruined the fight scene for me. At least until Varian got an axe in the chest, then Anduin screaming 'SHIELD!' was the only thing making me cringe.

The baron put his meaty hand on her shoulder, and her skin crawled at his touch. "I think we have an orc lover here, boys." The ensuing laughter smelled of stale mead. The baron leaned in close, too close, his breath hot and mocking. "Or maybe your tastes run more toward reeking tauren?"
Oh snap
So the nobles are people from the story forum?

Anyone else think "Wow, the Kingdom of Stormwind is tiny" at the end?

Sounds like a euphemism for having sex with a dwarf.

Okay. That fight scene filled with not-so-thinly veiled nods to in-game skills and spells was terribad. Like...horrible.

The dwarf is violating her homeland and causing her to feel like it's burning in slag.

Might want to see a doctor.

The only thing I can think, aside from Kul'tiras, is that he feels that Kalimdor is Jaina's "homeland" now, as she's an orc/tauren lover and not fit to be on the Eastern Kingdoms.

...maybe? Otherwise, yeah its Kul'tiras.

Or....it's since he was drunk? Or referring to Kalimdor as a whole since he considers that her home now.

Its just a simple statement of the fact that hes the most powerful Human leader, as King of pretty much the only Human kingdom left thats not a crumbling ruin.

Its just a statement of his defacto position, no ones gathered up the human leaders and got them to vote, any more than The UN had a quick check with everyone before we decided the President of the USA was "The most powerful man in the world".

I see no reason to read anything into it.

I hold your safety as my highest responsibility, your good livelihood my first and only calling. For the truth is it is not the people who serve their king; it is the king who serves his people!"

A nod to Terenas' influence? I feel like I've heard this before.
