I like how much work they are putting into characterizing the factions and races. Though how I'll feel about the game overall will have to wait till I get my Beta invite.

If it's Free-to-play, I might try it. Otherwise, not. Can't afford to pay money every month for every damn mmo that I play.

One thing I thought was funny about the factions in WildStar is that they're basically inverted versions of the Horde and Alliance.

The Dominion is a "bad" Alliance and the Exiles are a "good" Horde.

Look at it. The Dominion is all about high society and whatnot. They start off in a much better position as the Exiles. All their homeworlds are safe, prosperous, etc. They, realistically, have an overwhelming advantage in military, economy, technology, etc.

The Exiles are a bunch of refugees, outcasts, and.. exiles. They arrive on Nexus with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Whereas to the Dominion, Nexus is just another planet to conquer, the Exiles are actively trying to make a permanent home there.

You obviously don't know what being a Browncoat means.

So you mean the Dominion is "lawful evil" and Exiles are "chaotic good"?

I'm sorry if I drop everything in one of those nine labels but I really like them. Helps conceptualise certain ideas. Like a "moral pitch". By the same token, Horde would be "chaotic neutral" (with Garrosh possibly "lawful evil") and Alliance "lawful neutral".

Cats can't be warriors? Meh, I prefer melee combat. There's still 2 classes to be revealed.

I think right now I'm most interested in playing a Draken Stalker Soldier and a Human (Exile) Spell Slinger Scientist. Of course that might all change when I see what else they come out.

I'm interested in the different 'paths', I'l be really happy if there are ways to level up besides 'go kill x in y ways and bring back z bodyparts' I mean I know we have that now in WOW but a lot of stuff still boils down to comat and while that's great, some alternatives would be nice too.

Being a settler and building up areas really appeals to me.

you can watch the videos on explorer and fighter/soldier on the homepage. they differ from each other very much. you can also read the RPS preview i linked earlier.

overall it seems to be:
fighter: trigger combat/arena situation and fight a certain amounts of enemies/waves
explorer: explore and jump around akin to vista jumping puzzles in GW2
scientist: scan and collect the shit out of everything
settler: collect mats and build something together with other settlers.

Didn't the dev in TotalBiscuit's video imply there was one path that's more of a "talky" one?

So far I think I'll really enjoy a human Exile gunslinger or Battle Bunny Esper. Game looks very promising!

Also loved the intricate jumping puzzles in GW2, so I can't wait to do those here!

I wonder what the next two races will be. I'm already speculating they're inverted versions of the race on the opposite faction.

I'd like to see some kind of nature-oriented race on the Dominion that aren't total hippies like the Aurin, and the Exiles to have a robotic race that is different from the Mechari.

Considering the way the artifacts we've seen in both vids look, I'm guessing it'll be a singe bifactional race.

That might be possible too, I'm not sure if I got that impression at all from the vids though.

Don't think so either, and we already have the bifactional humans.

We do have those goblinoid aliens from the housing video. They might be one of those missing species. Though they could be greedy neutrals too.

So which side is the Horde side and thus gets all the development?

Sounds about right. Yet the night elves are on the Horde side.

See above.

That said, I'd guess Exiles. They're shown to be more of the plucky underdog type whose only flaws are wetting themselves, being dumb and getting into fights easily. Just like the Horde, really.

Whereas the Dominion is shown to be arrogant (humans), somewhat humorless (robots,) and bloodthirsty (gnolls).

The Alliance's three rules on faction conflict:
1) You can't win.
2) You can't break even.
3) You can't leave the game.

The part where the Exiles intro video talked about their hidden race gave me a forsaken vibe. Maybe the last race for each side is a sort of antithesis to the faction, with a neutral-evil race on the Exiles and a neutral-good race on the Dominion.
