Proximity, I presume, and scale of the threat.

NYC has so many Marvel heroes because Marvel is very connected, as a company, to the city and historically its writers have been as well. They've done some work to remedy that, namely moving the X-Men to San Francisco and using the Initiative to spread the minor heroes over the country. In addition, hero teams like the FF or the Avengers maybe be based in the two but in actuality they don't focus their operations there.

You're right, I'm not very familiar with anything beyond Batman and Superman.

My official reaction to the SoV trailer was as follows: "This looks brilliant. And by brilliant, I mean terrible. And by terrible, I mean so terrible its brilliant."

Ew, Nick Cage playing Ghost Rider again? No thanks.

And why the fuck are they doing another Underworld movie? I swear they're really not getting anymore creative with these vampire/werewolf movies. For once I'd like to actually see a genuine classic werewolf movie instead of this CGI-induced shit.

But that's not on-topic with the thread.

So who would be excited for a new Spawn movie? Or maybe a better version of Wolverine where it actually does his origin story right instead of fucking it up and showing only the best parts in the opening credits? (Showing his badassery during WW2 in the opening credits was LAME, and it should have showed his history in Japan as well.)

I think this Ghost Rider looks far superior to the original. The concept is so simply awesome that it takes a massive fail like the first one to screw it up. I think this one has a better team in place and will remedy that.

What happens in the space between the end of Thor and the beginning of The Avengers is Lokis made some very shady deals with the gangsters on the streets of the Nine Realms, Hiddleston tells The Hollywood Reporter at Saturdays D23 Expo. At the beginning of Avengers, he comes to earth to subjugate it, he continues. And his idea is to rule the human race as their king. And like all the delusional autocrats of human history, he thinks this is a great idea because if everyone is busy worshipping him, there will be no wars. And when we asked him who he based his portrayal of the villain on, he answered, I guess theres a lot of people in the world who feel they dont belong anywhere and what happens after that is you have to manage that feeling.

I cannot fathom how anyone in their right mind believes that Cage is suitable for the role of Ghost Rider. The first movie was good enough evidence that the role simply doesn't suit him.

This one is being brought to us by the same people who made Crank 2. It's going to be 2 hours of Ghost Rider wrecking people's shit instead of the rom com with Eva Mendes we got with the first one.

New photos from Man of Steel filming: LINK

Superman isn't wearing his underwear! Thoughts? I've always hoped for a costume redesign for Superman, I think that everyone really has to get past this "his suit is too iconic!" feeling so that he can get a new look that has a chance of working in live action and getting the character taken seriously. I feel like the trunks definitely had to go. I think the DC relaunch has him without the trunks, but I haven't been paying too much attention. It looks weird without it though.

Of all the looks I've seen online, this idea is my favorite. It's very commanding, kinda alien but totally Superman. I don't really like the art style though. I'd make the red really bright, but use a dark blue for the rest, and I'd keep the shield and belt golden instead of yellow.

I also like the cape idea on this one, but that armor just doesn't work at all for him, and it also makes no sense than an invulnerable man would have armor. The comments on this one mentions that it looks like a "What if Superman landed in Themyscira" design.

This is how the new costume will look like, I believe.

I've always advocated that Superman should look somewhat "alien". He's not human, he's not a man. I don't know why Kryptonians look like lantern-jawed anglo saxons, but if I were in control of a Superman movie I'd have things subtly off about Superman and Clark, like his eyes are just a bit too big or his facial features are just a bit too off. The kind of person who you wouldn't scream HE'S AN ALIEN! to in the street but might wonder if he had a slight deformity, place him within the uncanny valley a little.

Then again, my fan-script for a Superman movie is less "superman vs. lex luthor" as it is "superman vs. nietzsche"

I don't want him to be ugly, just... weird. Subtly different.

That sure would make it hard for him to have a secret identity if his face was that memorable, though.

Here's more close-ups of Superman in the new movie: LINK

Why do they have to make the crotch look like he's smuggling bananas?

My guess is that they are trying to make him look manly.

I'm not a fan of the costume. Hopefully this actor that nobody's heard of doesn't suck.

I want this movie to be good. I doubt it will be.

At least he is not being made into the metrosexual superman that Singer did to Routh.

Routh's Superman wasn't really all that different from Christopher Reeve's. I'm not sure what people expected - that was the character he was given, and he did pretty well with it.

I would love to see them push towards more of a comic-book adaptation; I'm not as enamored with the Donner movies as everyone else seems to be.

I should've known better than to get my hopes up for 'The Wolverine'. First Aronofsky leaves and now McQuarrie's script is being rewritten. By the guy who scripting the Escape From Witch Mountain remake.
