Yeah they made it pretty clear it's a special part of town in the starting area and in later quests. There is a LITTLE overlap with London regular but it's clearly a closed off area. The Mundy cops are shown protecting the entrance in, which I assume are Templars given their power and political sway in the city. Given how large/old London is, it's not hard to imagine a section being closed off. It's in plain sight, IE not underground, but given the organisations history it's likely not seen as odd. They are hiding in plain sight with the power of long standing history, it's no grand conspiracy for them.

I consider that mostly friendly ribbing. At least we can do PvE stuff regardless of faction *UNLIKE SOME*

I started Templar because I had this NWoD character in mind (Mage, FYI) that was really aggressive and unrelenting in his approaches. Was a perfect fit

I've just rolled a Dragon based on another, and I'm trying to think up a good background for someone that'd fall in line with the Illuminati.

Do you still get a blowjob at the start of the story?

I've got three characters, one of each faction, theres so little point in playing Alts in the game though that I've left the other two to stagnate. My Illuminati is my second highest toon.

My friend calls her the mystical oralicle since she played a female character.

In terms of missions and lore I think I only fully cleared the Solomon Islands 1.0.

The rest is a bit spread around and I haven't done much of transylvania.

Getting the council of venice creditation is a pain in the ass so I don't have the last story mission completed.(so I don't think i'll be able to get to Tokyo straight away)

I prefer the Templars. They're fighting for the sake of humanity while the Illuminate fight for personal interests and benefits and the Dragons seems to be way to chaotic for any goals.

I'm the Bokor basher. I love the little easter eggs and such they leave in the game related to other stuff.

Eh, afaik they are as selfish as the Illuminaughty but without the self awareness of it and without the subtlety.

I meant that more in a figure of speech way, considering the Illuminati's strongest suite is their mastery of "invisible" modern technology (they're both in the Templar and Orochi mainframe), that the Dragon probably had its fingers in every major upheaval throughout society, while the Templars wage outright wars with standing armies (the conquest of Phoenicia by the Persians).
It's pretty much confirmed that the Illuminati are very much under the control of the Orochi group.

I'm not sure how can the Illuminate be on Templar Mainframe. Most of it is in books. Very old books that nobody remembers.

Virgula Divina. The pre-Transylvania Templar mission.

My. Word. That was creepier than most horror games.

Yeah, that was a fantastic series and arc. I recall really enjoying that and wondering at that point what the other factions had to offer.

Meh, pretty much all the organizations are fucked up one way or another, so it's really a pick your poison kind of deal.

Sonnac is pretty fly though, and he's the Templar you'll see most, apart from the cooky old lady that seems to have forgotten about time since around when Victoria was in charge. So Templar it is :-p

Paris Hilton and the zombies... Paris Hilton meets Twilight... NOPE. IF anyone's familiar with New Mage - Lucy Sulfate? That's be rad!

I could totally see her improvising a flamethrower with hairspray and a lighter. Its funny, the main cast of Scooby Doo would be pretty cool illuminati characters.

Any faction can go get a glimpse of the templar library in London. I think it's implied that there is alot more in the archives. The chief librarian is also hilarious as fuck and as tons of information on the factions of the setting(he constantly mentions on how researching history is spending time in ancient ruins getting high).

They do but most of the useful information is in the really old books. If I remember correctly alot of times in the mission report Sonnac says someone is going to look at old books for further research.

EDIT: Reading reports on the wiki is pretty fun too.

The capacity of the draug to appropriate human technology and technique is alarming.
Their defence system is crude, but one shudders at the implications of the draug taking inspiration from Orochi. Soon they shall be camouflaging their objectives behind a network of puppet subsidiaries.
On a positive note, it is revelatory to see what the draug have barricaded. These giant pod clusters represent a significant advance in draug ambition and confidence. Until now, their shoreline activities were limited to breeding minor varieties of the species. We shall now be remembering that time as the good old days.

Templar sounds cool, I like anything that can pull off that Van Helsing, monster hunter style.

Dragon sounds cool too, looks like they have nature scientists.

Was that the one with the little girl in the lab? Because that one made me hysterical, my GF had to talk me through it soothingly.

Yes.

And it gets continued in A View To Kill mission pack. I think that's Issue #7?

That mission had me - a seasoned hardcore raider used to high pressure - literally mashing the keyboard in panic and dying. My GF had to calm me down and gently point out how to beat the fight.

The little bitch freaked me the fuck OUT.

The Templars have Gladstone. The Templars win

http://wiki.crygaia.com/view/Iain_Tibet_Gladstone

The gameplay of STW never gripped me much but the story, setting and characters are amazingly brilliant. Its not many MMO's were pretty much every questgiving NPC has their own story and memorable personality.

Investigation missions in particular hook me. Some of the harder ones have taken me quite a long time to crack. The only one I completely gave up on involved translating morse code. That one was beyond me.

I must admit I resorted to looking stuff up after a while for investigation missions, but I always gave it a fair shot first and the ones I did figure out on my own felt incredibly rewarding.

Their handling of Morse was a tad lackluster. I remember understanding what they wanted me to do (used the audio message and translate it into text) but it was a freaking annoyance to find software and/or websites that could handle it, and don't get me started on the speed that was apparently non-standart.

Not their best design. I actually found the Norse runes and Hebrew staff easier to resolve.

Oh, I LOVED the staff one. Felt like Indiana Jones ^^

Same. I too did most of them legitimately but I'll confess there were a few times I had to result to Unfair, because damn some of those are hard. The fact a game had me translating Arabic to Hebrew in relation to bible passages was pretty wild and interesting. The investigation missions remind me a lot of games when I was younger like Myst, Rama, Loom or Phantasmagoria before the internet and walk-through guides were a thing, damned kids these days getting everything handed to them.
