It's funny that even when they're HD, Stormwindian children are far uglier than Kul Tirasian children.

I'm getting this feeling that they're going to be retconning and whitewashing a lot of Zandalari stuff from Cataclysm and MoP so any cause for animosity can all just be blamed on Zul. Apparently his followers are already the enemies in one of the previewed BfA five-mans, so he'll probably be the disposable patsy that gets the "Garrosh's Kor'kron" treatment, letting them shine up the image of the other Zandalari by pinning the bad stuff on a minority of extremists.

Also on parity, I recall reading in a thread on the official forums that the Alliance attack from the sea, not via a land invasion which implies a takeover of Silver pine. I have not personally confirmed this assertion, but if it bears out, then parity also demands that the Night Elven presence in Northern Kalimdor remains, and that the attack on Teldrassil likewise came from the sea. The sea path diverting to Darkshore (not Dustwallow) confirms this.

If that bears out, then it changes everything. The Night Elves don't laughably lose in a land campaign in thier home turf. Teldrassil simply does not matter if this is the case. The Night Elves don't need a new "home", because now they are holding their real home.

Am I holding out hope about this? Absolutely not, but I do acknowledge the possibility, and am, for once about something in this expansion, excited if it pans out.
And suddenly, Marthen's interest in BfA wavers.

If that is how it happens (Alliance attacking Tirisfal by sea) it's a candidate to the most retarded war plan ever imagined in a fictional setting.

I can barely understand attacking Teldrassil and somehow not touching all of northern Kalimdor because it's an island.

Yep. Also looks like they extent to which Zandalar began sinking into the sea after the Cataclysm has been toned down quite a bit. So far it looks like Nazmir was the main region that was affected, whereas material from MoP like the Waterlogged Zandalari Journal indicated that Zuldazar itself was on the verge of being completely drowned.

Also, is there any news about other lordaeronian territories? The last time I checked I was told that Silverpine and Hillsbrad will stay Horde (but I don't remember any sources, tbh).

Start a decoy offensive in Arathi so that the Horde commits forces there then launch the real invasion by the sea.

I just realized there's something great in Legion that other expansions don't have:

I can grind out to overcome bad luck. Like +4 points in concordance would be the same as upgrading 15 item levels on my cloak, the same DPS gain.

So instead of going to the loot casino over and over I could just spend the same time (even less, actually) farming AP. It's a way to beat the RNG.

I doubt any zones other than Teldrassil and Tirisfal will be phased out. MAYBE Arathi, but even that is doubtful.

We will just be told what happened, not be able to actually see the changes.

At least we can all agree that after Sylvanas's actions, no Tideskorn should ever join the Horde.

Could this be the beginning of the Blood Elves and the Amani (what’s left of them) patching things up? After all, the Zandalari would make the best intermediary.

I have doubts Blozzard will put the time in to flesh any of this out, though... such a shame,
the amani are servants of zul, we are going to kill zul.

the blood elves for years are allied with the forest troll revantusk

Let me make sure I get this perfectly right - Warfronts are NOT PvP-related in any way, correct?!

At the start it actually looks like Zul and Rastakhan are still on the same side, based on some of the text wowhead has posted. So they probably haven't changed Rastakhan backing the golden fleet.

As for the island's damage, it's true only Nazmir seems to be sinking, but there's still a massive fault through the center of Zandalar and some of that ruined coast could be Cataclysm stuff too.

Imo, no retcon is even needed for the Zandalari. The zhorde should just go to them and say "Hey, you need land, right? We're offering you the Eastern Kingdoms if you help us."

And then we could see an amazing clash between the Golden Fleet and Kul'Tiras fleet. Maybe a patch zone that is just a big naval battle around Tel'Abim or something.

I'd be down for a Landfall like patch featuring Zandalari vs. Kul Tiras.

I definitely think that's what 8.1 will be, since we're going to them for their navies.

Yet it's the least retarded war plan among a host of bad options, if you are trying to snatch a quick victory against an enemy nestled away in Tirisfal.

Tirisfal is defended by a rather nice mountainous belt. The eastern route would require the Alliance to go through a gauntlet of mountain passes and easily defensible bottlenecks, some of them in the Alterac mountains. They would have to retake Andorhol - also very easy for the Forsaken to defend, and then they would somehow need to get through the Bulwark. That is a complete nightmare scenario that should see the Alliance defeated well before they reach anything that looks like an objective.

Silverpine isn't much better. Taking Hillsbrad would be the easy part, but the Alliance then has to contend with a heavily forested, mountainous valley with plenty of choke points. They would have to dislodge camp after camp that the Forsaken would be able to establish up in the more mountainous regions, where they could place artillery and blight canisters. The Alliance would need complete control of the air, and even if they get it, they would still experience horrific casualties.

The forsaken have a respectable navy, but the situation gets a lot better for the Alliance in the east on the high seas.

That said, the whole idea of one of these factions being able to reach these capitals in the opening days of a war is absurd to begin with, and logistically it should be a nonstarter. But it is much LESS absurd if they take the naval route.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the above only applies if you apply a requirement that the Undercity must be taken within a month. If you expect and plan for a long campaign with proper supply chains, Silverpine is probably the best.

On to other matters:

Quote:

I don't understand what bearing that has on whether the Night Elves hold or lose Ashenvale/Darkshore.

Quote:

I feel as though I've misunderstood your position for a while, so excuse me if this question feels obvious.

Is it your position that you will not personally be satisfied with BfA unless the Night Elves humiliatingly lose in an improbable, but highly effective Horde land campaign, or is there some larger theme that the possibility I raised violates?

Datamined storyline for Zandalar.

Interesting points:

-While rescuing Saurfang, the Horde player finds and frees Princess Talanji and Zul. This is why the Zandalari stop their attempts to fight the Horde from Cata and MoP, Rastakhan feels personally indebted to the Horde player for rescuing his daughter.

-The Horde capital city is called Dazar'Alor. Zul is outraged that the Horde would be allowed to "stay in these sacred halls."

-There's a titan keeper named Herzel in Nazmir informs Talanji and the player that "G'huun (is) an old god, being experimented upon, and reveals blood trolls want to destroy Zuldazar in order to free G'huun."

-Talanji recruits the Gob Squad from Cata and MoP to help fight the blood trolls.

-The Sethrak are in the middle of a civil war. The evil ones are trying to resurrect something called My'thix. It's implied to be either an Aqir or a Old God creation. The Horde allies with the good sethrak.

-The Sethrak were created by a serpent loa named Sethraliss, who died in battle against My'thix. Both were entombed in the Temple of Sethraliss.

-In Zuldazar you have to convince Rastakhan that Zul and his followers are traitors. In the finale, Rastakhan orders Gonk the Raptor Loa, Pa'ku the Pterrodax Loa, and Rezan the Devilsaur Loa to fight Zul. Zul kills Rezan and turns him into a undead devilsaur loyal to him and gets away.

My'thix sounds like Kith'ix, probably a C'thrax from the Troll-Aqir war. Urgh, now the snake people are crazy old god cultists too.

Yeah, I'd be lying if I said that my immediate reaction to that sethrak civil war bit wasn't a slight disappointment. Feels a bit like Mantid Empire vs. Klaxxi 2.0 and like the majority of storylines in the expansion is being tied to Old Gods.

Then again, this is obviously all just based on datamined text and could change drastically whenever Blizzard feels like it, so hopefully things will turn out a bit more interesting by the time it actually goes live.
