Looks damn good for something made in two days. The controls are tight, so I think you've got a solid foundation. You just need some NPCs.

I kind of want SoLers to be the NPCs. It would also be easy to make another character based off of another SoLer. I am trying to make the world easy to expand.

There is a dead guy in one of the screens you can resurrect with the Q ability. He doesn't do much though.

Yeah, I found him the second time around. For some reason I didn't think to look beyond the opening screen when I tried it the first time.

So yeah, to amend my initial post, there are actually two NPCs.

Getting stuck in the blue box doesn't seem to be happening for me. It had previously and I had thought I had fixed it. I can't seem to get stuck in it even if I run directly at it.

I will try to replicate it tomorrow morning.

Hmm, I tried it again and I still got stuck. I came in directly from the left of the blue box.

A good friend of mine used to do QA work for a game company (now he does animation for them). He spent a lot of time figuring out ways to break the game and writing up detailed reports on it.

Yeah I will keep messing with it.

It looks like you can't hurt the bot from the left either.

Am I doing something wrong? I can't seem to launch it. There's no .exe, just a buncha .pngs and .class files scattered about.

Halp.

For a foundation for a game, the very basics, you've got it nailed down. You've got your movement functions, laid the groundwork for puzzle mechanics, attacking and healing ability, a health/mana resource system, etc.

During my brief playthrough the only sort of grief I had with the game was that your character wouldn't turn back in the direction you're heading if you strafe. I didn't run into any bugs or mishaps that were obvious to me.

Like I'd trust anyone here enough to download their software packages.

I'm glad to see that you've made progress since you told me about this project on Minecraft.

But yeah, seems the basic functions are all solid. No issues with movement. I didn't get stuck on the block, so I couldn't replicate that issue.

Only thing I've noticed is that the help pads (I don't know what to call the circles with question marks which provide advice) can be fickle and refuse to give you info sometimes, but I've not tested them rigorously, so I don't know how helpful of a comment that is.

Keep up the good work!

I've got some pretty edgy original Sonic characters under my belt, from my youth browsing sprite forums, so sure.

I don't know if I've got time or consistent motivation to make sprite and tile sets for an entire game, though. Maybe.

If you make some I could try to incorporate them.

Did a little experimenting during my lunch break.

Whether or not you get stuck on the block seems like it might have something to do with the grid in the first screen. If you go through one of the paths in the grid, you won't get stuck in the block. Instead, you'll stop when you hit the block. You will be able to enter the block if you try again a second later, but can still leave freely.

However, if you go around the grid, you will get stuck on the blue block.

Man, I moonwalked the shit out of this game.

The color scheme implies to me that this is a fan sequel to Battlezone, which really scores nostalgia points.

The classic "locked in a series of rooms" premise is augmented by the healing/combat system and the clever supporting cast.

Questionmark is clearly the best character, though so far I do not trust their motives.

The undead hamster robot boss was a good climax for the act.

The mysteries of the protagonist's situation make me eager for more. The protagonist's situation is really contextualized by the setting.

Here is an update to the game:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6...2VGdVRBNVJBUnc

You can get further and if you hit esc there is a little inventory/spellbook thing.

Internet browser said this might do damage to my PC.

Why do you try to hurt me, PJ?

Well it is a .jar file so that is why I think it is doing that. It does that to me too.

Played the new version.

The game works quite well! The slow movement speed is a little frustrating, simply because the play area has gotten much larger. It might be worth having the player move a bit faster. You could also accelerate the fire so that it remains challenging.

You actually have a very good balance in the second fire corridor (the one with the hideouts). I was able to make it, but I had to be pretty precise in my timing.

The first time I healed the injured guy, it took a few seconds for the game to process. Didn't have any problems the second time.

I don't quite understand the blue window in the upper right. I'm guessing it's to show what spell you have selected?

My only real complaint is in the first fire corridor, since it seems like the damage is unavoidable (at least, so far as I can tell). Everything else is good, however.

If you solve the puzzle in the top most middle room it opens a door for another spell. If you hit esc you can switch between which one is assigned to Q. You can use the new spell to get passed the leafy looking wall in the room after the keyed door.

Hmm I usually just chase after the fire for the first one and take no damage. I actually intended for it to be a lot easier than the second one.
