I blame Omacron for putting me on this path.

Who's in the mood for some 90's nostalgia? I know I am.

The Cardigans was one of the first bands I took actual liking to growing up (not counting bands/performers whose target audience are kids). This song, and the accompanying music video, I remember enjoying quite a lot.

I am honestly not sure.

On one hand he quotes an eminent figure on Sumeria who said that if he got a chance to speak with an ancient Sumerian scribe the scribe would tell him, I understand you perfectly but your accent is quite strange. As if to imply he knows what he is saying is good... ish. However on an Egyptian song of his he cautioned that he researched the words but he is unsure if his pronunciation is right because there was no phonetic spelling and that he is mainly a performer and not a scientist.

So maybe there was phonetic spelling for Sumerian that he found? Also his music is probably pretty close since looking at his channel he does specialize in ancient instruments and he knows a great deal about them.

As you've said it certainly seems to be his best effort and it is quite marvelous. The very thought of it is amazing however, that we are hearing something close to what someone heard 5000 years ago. The sound and words survived, more or less, the people who made them and endured for thousands of years. It is not a lot of time on a cosmic scale but on a human scale it does start to boggle the mind. We argue endlessly about what happened few days ago, or few years. Most conversational topics started out some centuries ago, very few are older than 2500 years. And here is something twice or more old. 150 generations ago. Not only that but he presents it in a great way, the timeless words that speak of a time older still and with that haunting melody.

Truly superb.

I'm not even sure if I'm reposting songs at this point. I think I haven't done this one yet.

Now that Noitora hasn't posted for a bit, we need someone else to unleash the forces of hatred and misanthropy upon this forum.

The sound these guys have got going is gold. Old school-styled heavy metal-esque goddamn rock n' roll. Love it.
