Jaina Brave. Yep, that's exactly what Proudmoore means.

(German: Jaina Prachtmeer.)

Here's my fake feature list for Eye of Azshara

Feature List
  • New level cap - 110
  • The South Seas! Most of the zones are smaller than usual but there is a lot of them. None of the zones are underwater - they have all risen to the surface.
    • Plunder Isle
    • The Lost Isles
    • Tel'Abim
    • Kezan
    • Kul Tiras
    • Broken Isles
    • Balor
    • Zandalar
    • Nazjatar
    • Gishan
    • The Reaches
    • Scintal Reef
  • New neutral race - the Naga. An small faction banished by Azshara, led by two twin sisters. After the initial questing they split up, one of the sisters joining up with the Horde and other with the Alliance.
  • Four talent specs for everyone - these specializations give every class new playstyles.
    • Mages get Chronomancy (healing)
    • Priests and Paladins get Inquisition (a half ranged/half melee holy dps spec)
    • Shamans, Warlocks, Rogues and Hunters get a tanking spec
    • Warriors get a Gladiator spec (sword and board dps)
    • Death Knights get Plague (ranged dps)
    • Monks get a melee healing spec.
  • Maintain your own trading port, flagship, and crew. Much bigger than the garrison, the port allows for a lot more customization.
  • Outland and Northrend are now both 60-80 areas.
  • New transmogrification system. Store the designs you like and use them across all your characters.
  • The return to winged dungeons allows for 20 dungeons on launch.

Zone info
  • Plunder Isle
    Home to the Bloodsail
  • The Lost Isles
Shen-zin Su is dead and the Wandering Isle has been stranded on the Lost Isles, making up half of the zone
  • Kezan
Mount Kajaro never really erupted - it was a ruse by the Cogblade cartel to seize control over the Trade Coalition.
  • Kul Tiras
They consider Jaina Proudmoore a traitor for killing Daelin.
  • Nazjatar
High level zone, a massive Naga city.
  • Gishan
Volcanic caverns and fields. Even though this area used to be on the sea floor it was never filled with water.
  • The Reaches
All the ships that sink eventually end up here. A massive ship graveyard, the Kvaldir call this area home.
  • Scintal Reef
Populated mostly by Makrura and Murlocs

Dungeons/Raids
  • Bloodsail Compound
  • Bloodsail Vaults
  • Bloodsail Hold
  • Forgotten Caverns
  • Blood Gardens
-Takes place on the now corrupted Wandering Isle
  • Bilgewater Port
  • Cogblade Resort
  • Kajaro Mine
  • Crestfall
  • Zul'Dare
  • Tomb of Sargeras (Raid)
  • Suramar Gardens
  • The Eternal Palace
  • Zuldazar Catacombs
  • Shattered Court
  • The Dread Fleet
  • Kvaldiron (Raid)
-A giant Kvaldir ghost ship fortress made out of hundreds of sunken vessels
  • Mak'aru
  • Ny'alotha (Raid)

It all sounds plausible. But then again, all the best hoaxes do. Ss always, I recommend people keep it in their pants.

Here's the big one - the one people will rage and rage and rage about. This is a two tier expansion with a max level of 100. That's right - there is no new level cap in Eye of Azshara. There is enough question in the new zones to get an 85 to 90, for players who skipped WoD, and there is alternate advancement for existing players that rewards augments to your skills and higher item level gear, but there is no actual increase in the level cap. The two tiers in Eye of Azshara accompany the two tiers in WoD to make up 4 tiers of level 100 raiding.
That reminds me about what they said regarding Outland/Northrend awhile back
Quote:

Q. The leveling experience is a little bit strange. It is definitely good, but the experience requirements for Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King are such that you just fly through the zones, without even finishing the quest lines, and you jump to the next zone. Are there any plans to homogenize that?

A. We have ideas for how we would like to address it, but it would take us a significant amount of time to fix, though. So, it is the kind of things where it is like "We could have the expansion take longer to come out, but we could fix that!". For example, we talked about having both Outland and Northrend go from level 60 to level 80. So, you pick if you want to do Outland or Northrend, and each of them would go at half the speed they do now. That way, you would not run into that kind of problems and it would feel that you have more different content options for what to do. It would probably make leveling different characters a little bit more interesting. So, we like that, but it takes so much of our designers' time to go through and fix it and our system designers' time to go through and make that actually work, because it is really very non trivial, changing the rewards and all that kind of stuff. So, it is one of those cool ideas, but when do we spend the time to do that versus trying to finish the expansion faster.
So I can actually believe that part, if they are looking to do it for past expansions then why not plan accordingly for future/present ones? Naga/Highborne demon hunters sounds like BS though.

K, In regards to Overwatch, I can see a couple of possibilities, one for Diablo one for Starcraft.

Diablo: We, the Nephalem, have become so powerful that we can literally be considered gods. From a new plane we've created known as the "Overwatch" we look down upon our mortal followers and act as patron gods. Sort of a Sims/Civ sort of feel where we guide our followers to being the greatest force on Sanctuary.

Starcraft: Overwatch is the code name for an operation where we as ghosts call down nuke strikes, orbital bombardment, drop pods, Scanner Sweeps, etc. from an Overwatch Space Station.

In regards to EoA, to be honest, I don't need this hype right now. I'm usually all for it, but I've got a busy week coming up, whereas I'm getting 4 days off this weekend, so I'm going to step off the Hype Train and sit this one out. See ya'll Friday.

I think the most interesting announcements I'm hoping for at this BlizzCon is to see whatever Blizzard makes of Overwatch, as well as hopefully a reboot to Metal Arms for consoles. I've played a bit of the original Overwatch and it was pretty good, and with Blizzard buying out the original developer I'm hoping they'll take the game and improve upon it. I've heard murmurs of it being ported to mobile/tablet as well, but I hope that doesn't have any negative effects on the gameplay. As for Metal Arms, they're the perfect company to tackle that IP.

While the Eye of Azshara trademark is interesting, but I'd like to see them diversify a bit, honestly.

"Pantano Orgulloso" is not a bad translation of "Proudmoore"; it is literal.

However, the Spanish localization team has made several questionable translations in the past: "Ironforge" to "Forjaz" (Forgez), "Scourge" to "Plaga" (Plague), "embraced to sun" to "adoraron al sol" (worshipped the sun), etc.

The last one actually served for years as a "proof" that sin'dorei worshipped Belore, a weird pseudo-catholic equivalent of Elune.

Oh my Odin, I completely forgot about Kul Tiras! Of course any South Seas expansion would have to include there, nice. I suspect the standard human city only being beset by Azshara's naga or worse.

A (very reaching and probably meaningless) but neat connection pointed out on MMO-Champion. When Cata was announced they had Ozzy Osbourne, who performed "Bark at the Moon." Metallica has several songs about eldtrich monsters coming from the bottom of the sea...

A guy named Melsiren posted the lyrics to one called "The Thing That Should Not Be."

Immortal in madness you dwell

Crawling chaos, underground
Cult has summoned, twisted sound

Out from ruins once possessed
Fallen city, living death

Fearless wretch, insanity
He watches lurking beneath the sea
Timeless sleep has been upset
He awakens, hunter of the shadows is rising
Immortal in madness you dwell

In madness you dwell

Not dead, which eternal lie
Stranger eons death may die

Drain you off your sanity
Face the thing that should not be

Fearless wretch, insanity

He searches, hunter of the shadows is rising
Immortal in madness you dwell

EoA being a HS expansion would be neat in the sense that Hellscream's eye were upon you, literally.

I remember some stuff we discussed at Pandaria theorycrafting did actually "make" it into the game (or mere coincidences), specially the spirits things some user posted (which I can't find now, and I'm lazy anyway).

It's a stretch. The more realistic explanation is they wanted a band like Metallica because it fit with the Iron Horde theme.

Wouldn't the number squish been the perfect time to implement that? The math is getting a huge overhaul anyway, and they would've had to address the huge gaps that follow every expansion individually, right?
