Default Firelands

Now i know Lore has been slow lately so i decided to try and get the ball rolling and thought about 4.2. What actually happens if we succeed in defeating Ragnaros will there be a Firelord to replace him or will they carry on without a leader?

And more of a personal question what do we actually know canon wise of the Flamewakers ?

It would be great if they where similar to the Druid of the Flame but previous Naga that sought out power but i really dont know much about them.

It's likely that there's someone to replace Ragnaros.

You have to remember that the elementals of Azeroth have an advanced system of peerage: there are dukes, barons and various other "elemental nobles" under the lords. While we've killed a shitload of fire elementals over the course of this expansion and AFAIK there's no "prince" of fire, I'm sure there are going to be, at the very least, a few leftover dukes or archdukes who will jockey for Ragnaros' place. That's not to say the transition to power will be smooth, minor nobles will likely gather up a few flame elementals and flamewalkers and fight, but eventually one will emerge victorious.

That is, of course, assuming the earthen ring or guardians of nordrassil don't intervene and appoint someone to "look after" the fire elementals.

After heroic Ragnaros dies Hamuul mentions another will eventually rise to take Ragnaros' place. Due to that they said they will continue to watch the Firelands so I'd imagine no elemental will really get control for a while.

I don't know if it's relevant to this thread or not but when you kill Ozruk one of Therazane children it's implied that she got more powerfull

Some stuff from Monster Guide and Dark Factions. They are native to the Firelands, they are are fiery elementals made of flesh and blood, and they answer directly to Ragnaros.

"Fire Princes" are mentioned in Shadows & Light. They fought the other Elemental Planes and fought for dominance in Sulfuron Keep while Ragnaros was trapped in Molten Core. Prince Skaldrenox, a flamewaker, may be one.

Yea I'm not sure how you get 'getting more powerful' out of that.

Pure speculation here, but given that elemental forces are "Timeless and Unchanging" I would think that killing an elemental lord just frees up their energy to be used by the rest of the plane.

Didn't Wow Wiki use to claim that Flamewakers were dark iron dwarves that Ragnaros transformed into "fire naga" or something?

that was just a rumor but the Monster Guide also mentions that they are not creatures entirely of flame so they might be more than just fire elementals

considering that new elementals can be created, i doubt it

that said, we don't know how elementals (or titan creations that have "sons") reproduce

and i don't think anyone wants to contemplate the conception of the centaur

when beings like elementals or the ancients talk about their children, I envision those children not as their biological offspring but as lesser beings that share some kind of spiritual link with them. For example Therazane's sons and daugthers would be more like her creations than like real children just like the Iron Vrykul in Halls of Lightning are Volkhan's "children" or Cenarius bein the son of Malorne and Elune.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was supposed to mean that she's just feeling more emotional after Ozruk had to be put down. And aren't the firekin just those little fiery imps?

The Dark Iron thing was interesting but I think that was all just theory rather than offical lore.

Interesting question, is it possible that Fire Elementals are susceptible to the curse of flesh as creatures made of stone are? I've always sort of suspected the Flamewalkers were crafted by the oldgods from their elemental roots. I really suspect that anything serpent has a connection linking them to the oldgods, the Flamewakers represent a hint to the nature of the Naga.

Pure speculation here that I've mentioned before, but Neptulon's body reperesents a deviation from his "brothers" and "sisters" forms. I've kind of theorised that the Oldgods used Neptulon again'st his will to turn the Highborne into the Naga. This tainted him with the curse of flesh and gave them the powers of water they have now. Flamewakers on the other hand were once a mortal race or elementals that gave themselves to the oldgods willingly.

I was a little disappointed there wasn't an earth or air equivalent to them this expansion.

It's not just "made of stone". AFAIK, no earth elemental has fallen to the curse of flesh. Elementals are implied to be creatures of energy, not just matter, whereas titan creations are really just machines made of minerals.

Personally? I would've preferred the lore of dark irons becoming flamewakers. It ties nicely, but, hey, what'cha gonna do? Cata showed us that there are carbon based organisms living side by side with the elementals in the planes.

That's kinda my theory

A family of trickster races highly malleable to magic.

Currently we have:

Imp - Demon - Fel Magic
Grell - Fey - Nature Magic
Firekin - Elemental - Fire Magic
