Default Biggest disappointment in Warcraft?

Sad but true, Warcraft lore in recent times is not sto "stellar".

Which thing disappointed you more?

For me it was Deathwing in Cata, even more than "saturday morning villain cartoon Arthas".

We can look the whole of WoW as a huge forshadowing of the confrontation with Deathwing: in Vanilla we fought 2 of his eldest sons, Nefarian & Onyxia.

In TBC we found their "mutated" spawn, the netherwind drakeflight, and Lady Sinestra revealed that yes, Deathwing was still there.

In Wrath we got the first fight against his twilight dragonflight.

In Cata, after his AMAZING (imho) introduction, when Deathwing proved to be so powerful to "break the world" just waking up... he has almost no screen time for the whole expansion, and got two boring fight that were basically "fight adds".

All of his cunning, when he manipulated the other Aspects to power the Dragon Soul, or the whole Lord Daval Prestor gambit... just gone

I'd say the disappointment comes with every new villain, they're very rarely built up that well and their closure is usually anti-climactic. But this is a trait of most MMOs and it isn't really a gripe with Blizzard specifically.

Garrosh being given a second chance. Care bears are smarter than that.

The Alliance.

There's so much potential for awesome and interesting storytelling with this faction, but the more expansions that have gone on the more it seems like Blizzard is just pissing it all away.

-Kael and Garrosh being villains
-Thrall is good and only way for the Horde
-Lazy writing
-Hypocritical worldviews on redemption--so Kerrigan gets saved , Grom gets saved and Arthas....yeah. Why did Arthas have to pay just because a group of fans say so. I will admit that I do not look too well on redemption, but it's more because Blizzard might screw it up than something legitimatly wrong with Arthas redeeming.
-Orcs solely portrayed as badddddddd.

All of the missed opportunities for wrapping up the dropped hooks of classic WoW in Cataclysm.

Another BIG disappointment (Illidan, Kael, we're looking to you).

Luckily in WoD Gul'dan is back: finally one char that's a villain 'cause... He's just a son of a b**ch!

(I really hope that he'll be the main villain of Warlords)

Uldum. So many chances to explore the purpose of the zone, learn about its natives, dig through its tombs, and all we did was help an Indiana Jones knockoff find an Arc of the Covenant ripoff. At least they finished the story in that zone, though. I mean, hell, where the fuck was Al'akir? He should have been the villain for the zone, not Goblin Hitler and his band of Fashionist goons.

I don't recall the last time my excitement was met with such disappointment as Cataclysm. After seeing what they did with the Horde I was really stoked to see what they were going to do with the Alliance and then ~faaaaaaart~

Well tbh the disappointment levels was more a slow burn since cataclysm came into it, it felt more like a candle burning down since then. The final snuff of flame and waking up to just how fucked the games story was the end of SoO, no killing garrosh, a crack addict for warchief, greasy pandas stealing the moment, and i even felt for the alliance having team rocket hog the spotlight. That was when the candle finally went out, and my now fuck it all attitude to wow became the thing.
