They are how you atone for murdering Aneurysm.

By the way, any chance we could turn PvP off? I don't want to have a higher kill count than the dragon.

Also, in recent news. Nazja's decided to build a monument to hubris by building a sand and/or sandstone castle to rival mine.

Alright! Managed to get myself a breeding pair of cats, as well as one of dogs.

It appears like dogs only come in one colour, but cats in several. So I'll have to make more excursions up to the far north in search of cats with cool coats.

There's only one more type.

I unearthed some ancient troll ruins, so I might not be able to settle there.

All the more reason to stay, then.

Rebuild them. Restore them to their former glory!

I feel like for a lot of them there is a big issue of volume. I don't have blocks in those kind of quantities except cobblestone.

I think im way too far behind now to come back.
I`ll just wait till you all get bored and start modding.

It was Nazja's works that I saw and commented on last night, not yours.

Spending my downtime drawing some rough sketches of a new structure I am imagining. Want to make some clear blueprints first before attempting an ambitious build, I hope it to look Ironforge-esque.

You cannot be 'behind' anyone else, you ought to play at your own pace because its a co-operative game and not a competition.

And I am hoping that no mods are installed - I think they cheapen the creative experience.

I'm always halfway between blueprints and winging it. I'll come up with a design document in my head, get a rough idea of how I want it to look, then widdle around with it as I go and I get a good feel for how it looks.

And yeah, I'm absolutely on board with keeping things vanilla.

I'm a big fan of shoving in a ton of minecraft mods, but I can see how that'd make some unhappy. Still, including some mods that don't affect QoL and have only minor gameplay impact would probably be fun. Biomes O' Plenty is a good reason for more exploration, while Chisel gives some nice decorative options for our homes.

We should complete all the content in vanilla before any mods.

When you're just starting off a Minecraft adventure, extensive planning and blueprints aren't going to be much help to you when you're still trying to survive and gather resources - but when you get to the point of relative self-sufficiency and you want to try assembling something impressive, I personally find planning it out far in-advance to be very helpful. Otherwise if you're just improvising you run into common problems like not having enough to expand or irregularly-designed buildings.

As I see it, there are a few problems with installing mods:
  1. Anytime there's a new patch by Mojang, we would be beholden unto the mods' developers as we wait for them to update their software before the realm becomes playable again
  2. Mods inevitably decrease the difficulty of the game - which thus lowers the sense of accomplishment achieved from building something that was both creative and time-consuming
  3. For new players (or old ones that have recently returned to the game) mods discourage them from learning the game's core mechanics and forces them to study how the mods work instead - leaving them unprepared to advance their own Minecraft skills
  4. Mods are often unpolished, unbalanced and unreliable from a game-play and performance perspective
  5. Modding the realm with extensive new content would make it more difficult for us to use other useful Minecraft tools (such as MCEdit and world-map generators)
I have no problem with trying out mods for a single-player playthrough and I used to play a little bit of Tekkit years ago, but for a multiplayer adventure like the realm we have currently I personally feel that vanilla is the way to go.

I agree. At some point down the road, I'm all for discussing and trying out some mods, but we still have a few noobs who haven't even seen all of what the vanilla game has to offer. I'm still not bored with it either.

I like full or mostly full conversion mods that don't rely on the base game as the source of their major content. To properly mod Minecraft you have go back to version 1.1 or something like that.
