Did you figure out what was wrong with it? Was the portal broken on the overworld-side or what?

There was no damage to the other side of the portal. Near as I can tell from what you reported, it seems likely creepers can somehow "put out" portals with their explosions. All I needed to do to bring the portal back online was use flint and steel to light the portal in the Nether.

And then I died on the way back to my own portal.

You can thank Kell'zhul for creating portals to escape the Nether.

Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether

I'm pretty sure that chunks (that is, the sub-areas a minecraft map is made of) are only loaded while a player is in the general vicinity; so nope, time stands still while everyone's offline (and for specific chunks while there's no-one around that chunk).

Course, in this case, at least we found you a surprising quantity of emeralds, assorted treasures, and a skeleton spawn block.

Also, I think I might just cave and get me a Troll skin for future Minecraft shenanigans.

Seems like it's time to finally use a Warcraft skin too. (Or I could pretend that my ginger skin is a dwarvish farmhand. )

Edit:
There are even Tuskarr!

Ooh, perhaps I'm a comely dwarven lass, then?

But more on-topic: Shout-out to Mertico, whose island fortress, while still under construction, is a wonder to behold. Its mighty walls are the kind you wouldn't be surprised to see lined with cannons pointed at the ocean to repel invaders. If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend giving it a quick visit.

Or you could be the leader of the brotherhood.

And yeah, his fortress is really great. If pirates ever move into the jungle, his is the fortress they'll look at for inspiration.

Everyone should load up on potions, enderpearls and enchanted gear (particularly bows and feather-falling boots) too. I had placed an end chest at our spawn point in the End, but otherwise there are no preparations that have been made to the area. An obsidian bunker might improve our chances.

I have a stack of obsidian but I am ill prepared with those other things. I have been pretty reckless and dying when I shouldn't be.

Sorry for not replying to your question in-game. I was afk.

Getting a good bow shouldn't be too difficult since you can fish those.

Nazja you like fishing too much! I find it boring. Instead I have attracted spiders because of poor lighting and now have string from that.

Is it really my fault if zombies spiders and lava wants to kill me? I think it is a jealousy issue.

Horde Flag

Last night, a lone orc braved the End and slew the dragon in its lair. When the beast lay dead, the orc traversed further into the strange abyss until a city of purpur was discovered - a city of peaceful Endermen and belligerent shulkers. The orc cut a bloody path through their ranks until the End ship was within reach. And now the Horde has taken its plunder and flying-technology home; so that no orc may be confined by gravity again.
