A lot of the advantages that women have aren't really things that stand out. They tend to live longer, they aren't as likely to be colorblind, men bald more. Things of that nature.

Educated in the sense that she understands acronyms and terms used by the military as a form of slang, yes. Sort of like how hospital personnel have a bunch of weird names for things you'd never hear unless you heard the two techs or nurses talking who think they'e alone. Like a "Code Pink," when there's a newborn missing from the nursery. (Yes, people do attempt to steal babies from hospitals.)

An MOS is your job. Example: An "11b" in the Army is your bog-standard, rock-washing, lawn-mowing grunt. The number being your "department," as it were, with the letter narrowing it down further.

I was just teasing. I'm familiar with most military acronyms and terms because I have a large number of family members in the military.

Yeah? My grandfather was Navy, and my father was Air Force. One of my Great-Grandfathers was a ranger in WW2, and another was Navy who was at Midway. Gunner's Mate, I think. The Grandfather-who-was-Navy still has his service weapon, an M1 Carbine.

Out of the three, I think my dad had the most uninspiring career. I can't remember what his specific MOS was, but he was the guy that tracked down who had what STDs and sent them off for treatment. Then he had a motorcycle accident and was discharged due to injury.

You?

Is irony the right word to use when there's a dick measuring contest in the feminism thread?

Didn't intend it that way. Sorry. Feeling a bit ramble-y tonight.

On my mother's side her dad was Navy during the Vietnam War. I didn't know much about the Vietnam War until he told me about things like having to patrol the rivers.

On my dad's side his did was a Marine during the Vietnam War, and he served as the squad MG which meant he took a bullet twice during the course of the war. He's dead now and I haven't had contact with my dad in a while so I don't know much more about him.

Also, IIRC, a great grandfather on my mom's side fought during WW1 and the Russian Civil War on the side of the whites till the very end. He fled to Lithuania, hooked up with my great grandmother, then made their way over here.

I'd hate to be the guy lugging around the LMG. It's big, heavy, and you're always the main target in the firefight.

Yeah. I remember him saying he enjoyed it because he loved being the guy doing what a lot of others didn't want to, but those two bullets he took ended up causing him major complications later.

Egh... you know what? Fair enough. Ain't gonna try to argue it, not really wanting to anyway (seriously, I was just trying to figure out where the disconnect between Mutter and Erthad's argument was), and it's not like I'm not aware big guys can't be fast or agile.

I'm directly related to two veterans of the French and Indian War, one Revolutionary, two members of the Union in the War of Southern Aggression; my great-grandfather was in the US Navy during WWII and my grandfather served in Korea. I also have a great-uncle that's in the Navy right now, but I've never met him.

Of course, my family's really claim to fame is having the first murderer of Jamestown as an ancestor. That and killing the last panther of the Appalachian mountains.

I'd win anyway.

12 years married, with a 9yo daughter. I have more experience with the opposite gender than anyone here.

Game over, folks. All you're doing is playing hypothetical charades.
