I should clarify, I play Horde mostly but not because I like that faction more, and I don't want them if the Horde gets a completely new race. I would only want them if the Horde gets an Alliance race, which 'll likely never happen, or if they're changed enough to be fundamentally different from blood elves, which would make them something else than high elves.

Very well.

Just to clarify as I did in the original poll at MMO-C, the poll considers that High Elves are added in some way. If anyone votes "yes", they are essentially saying: "I want them playable, I trust Blizzard will do it in the best way possible". How Blizzard does them - as a full race, a sub-race, a swap of races among Horde and Alliance or some other way - doesn't matter for the purposes of the poll.

I voted that I don't have strong feelings. I wouldn't prefer it much but I won't cry a river over it either, unless it takes up a potential slot for a more unique race.

Playable High Elves in the Alliance, and playable Humans in the Horde. (Best candidate: the Syndicate.)

Then I can have my Alterac vagabond doing those wonderfully wicked deeds outlined in the Blood Elf and Undead questing experience.

Runes

Regardless of the popular demand for them, it doesn't make them a good idea.

this

Also it would be awkward as fuck playing a race that only exists to honour the high elves' downfall when, you know, high elves inevitably become the most played race in the game.

Probably should've said "both" instead of "Alliance." I'd play Horde more often if it weren't for limited time and my guild.

High elf fan vs. blood elf fan issues aside, it already bugs me that five of the playable races are variations on humans and elves. Adding another race of elves that looks just like the first one except for the eyes? Ehh, no. Unless maybe they were a purely cosmetic cosmetic choice with same starting experience as humans. I don't really want to see any fully-fledged new races unless they're going to be important enough to the plot to justify their inclusion.

Been said a million times now but I can't see them working what with Blood Elves already playable. They'll want to give the playable race slot to something more substantial.

Either add them or kill them off. They're just pissing off night, high, and blood elf fans by half-assing high elf involvement.

Sure, why not. They've been given more development in MOP than most Alliance races anyway.

This. And, to be honest they are the only race which would be able to join the Alliance while being well seeded in both the lore and the game. We saw what happened hen it wasn't the case twice already : the worgens and the Draeneļ. It is more than time that the Horde get such a race for it would either prove the Horde bias or allow it to be proven as non-existent.

Not in their present blue blood elf form, and blizzard has a bad track record differentiating between different groups, so I voted no. Then again, my objections are not very strong, and having playable horde syndicate humans would totally be worth it.

It's funny because the Horde still has a backup well-seeded race to be added, the ogres.

With this Warlords of Draenor looming in the horizon, it could very well end with Horde getting ogres and Alliance getting yet another random addition.

Not that I wouldn't like to see Arakkoa playable. I think they have potential. But it's more likely that they'll be forgotten just like the Draenei pretty soon afterwards.

My opinion is that they should be done as a full race. Make the new Blood/High elf model, then change some proportions here and there (like muscle mass). From that point on, animate them completely different (Blood Elves like they are now, High Elves), give them completely different skins (less skin colors for Helves, but with body paint options [like Alleria, you could handwave it as influence from their Wildhammer allies] and non-glowing different colored eye colors) and hairstyles (make Helves' styles closer to Nigh Elves'). You'll end with the same race but with clearly distinguished cultural features.

They'd have to be pretty tiny ogres, though.

WoW's put the standard for average ogre size pretty high at this point; even as early as WC3 we had them established as setting the bar for size among non-"giant-type" humanoids, describing Abominations as "even bigger than ogres" to get across how huge they were.

To make ogres playable, they'd probably have to be shrunk down to tauren size just to function in the player cities, which would have them only just reaching the waist of most ogres currently encountered in-game. And would it really even feel properly like an ogre at that point? Being huge is kinda one of their "things" (along with being comically stupid, that is - not a bad thing per se, but to really keep with the theme of ogres one would expect to statistically be an imbecile; not everyone can be an erudite ogre-mage).

Never understood furbolgs' appeal. I mean, their culture is pretty much bland. They could be really visually impressive, but I don't see them as appealing to play as.

Ogres suck.

No faction deserves such a lame and recycled race. Let them be a Horde sidekick race.

I'd play one if they were a thing.
But I'm not sold on them being a good idea as a playable race. I'm happy with them being an Alliance race that simply feature in the background with one or two High Elves appearing every now and again and show off some of their awesome architecture. For this reason I wasn't happy with the surge in presentation we've seen in MoP. I'm also quite happy with just Night Elves being the Alliance's playable Elves.

You won't catch me raging if they become playable but I'm not exactly going to leap for joy either.

Highly doubtful. The Forsaken would immediately latch onto them, torture and experiment on them, and then convert them to Forsaken with a 99% successful mental conversion rate.

It's also stupid.

Draenei can become a Horde race, since they're already neutral neutrals who neutral all the neutrality.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, if the Exodar landed in the Barrens, they would have joined up with the Horde immediately.

The Alliance's three rules on faction conflict:
1) You can't win.
2) You can't break even.
3) You can't leave the game.
