We do not talk about those, we only ridicule them.

Probably. I don't think I have ever really gotten the reference because I have seen a lot of beards in my days, mostly on brown people. I am still unclear on a lot of the lingo you kids use, like "that's pretty based", what the fuck does that mean? Educate this Ape PJ!

I am assuming you don't have one then? I like nerdy things but long dirty finger nails and men with hair on their neck are more common than it is elsewhere.

I was taught to be very clean, even when I had to grow a bit of a beard. I just don't understand the reference because even big beards grow on the neck, but some of those pics are ridiculous.

So you don't think women having an expectation of cleanliness means they should be lesbians instead?

An important part of neckbeardism is to have a fat neck.

I was going to suggest you guys start your own neckbeard threat and take it there

On actual FF14 news (glares) it sounds like we might be getting a release date for Heavensward next Saturday at Pax East. Part of me is wondering if it will just happen to turn out to be the release date of 6.2 for WoD too....

I'd wager there's a good chance considering it'll probably be coming out in May or June. They already said you could probably guess the release date based on their patch schedule which is 3 months per major patch and next month is the last patch before the expansion.

They are saying spring so that would suggest May probably.

They did say the break between the last part of 2.5 and 3.0 was going to be short. After all it sounds like 2.52 sees Ishgard come under attack.

Downloading 15 gb on a 8 line sure makes me crave that sweet fiber line that's only a kilometer away. Would go so fast with over 100.

I know your pain. Internet infrastructure where I live is lousy. To download games I usually end up leaving them to download while I head off to work or overnight when I sleep.

Heavensward presentation at Pax East today gave us a release date.

23rd of June.

This reddit page had the presentation chopped up into sections for anyone curious to look:

http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...5_compilation/

This expansion is going to have some big primals. Alexander is raid and judging by the cutscene, Bismarck is huge.

I found this in an interview from Pax East with YoshiP. Since it hasn't been talked about elsewhere I thought I'd post the comment. Its about Free Company (Guild) Airships and crafting:

At the release of Heavensward Free Company crafting will become available. Within your Free Company housing you値l be able to set up a sort of work shop in your basement. You may have seen visual aspects of this shown at a Producer Letter live but you値l build a workshop in your basement. There値l be two large categories of stuff you値l be able to build with your Free Company, first of them being an actual house. And the second one is an airship. I知 sure you want more information about the airships so I値l delve a bit more into the details about that. With the building of the airship you池e not going to be picking from a list of available designs but building it from different parts. There will be four major parts which go into your Free Company ship. For example the engine, fuel tank, the body, and then the sail that propels you and each part will have different designs as well as different capabilities. If you pick a high capability engine that has good power and a fast speed when you send your Free Company out with that high capability engine to scout based on we致e been calling a 都ky map it can go out quickly and return fast but it痴 a gas guzzler. It takes up a lot fuel. So you then add on a very large fuel tank. But because it痴 so huge you lose space to store your items. Considering those different parameters that come with different parts you値l be discussing among your Free Company members to see which parts you would need to build your ideal airship. So that痴 the first part of Free Company crafting in terms of an airship. At the start of Heavensward you池e not only able to have just one ship but you can actually build up to four ships. And those airships will be ranked. And depending on what your rank level is there will be different parts you can and cannot equip. At the start of Heavensward once you build your airship you値l be able to send it out to scout, no passengers, just the ship goes out to try and scout. And then in a following patch you値l then be able to board that ship and explore and find uncharted areas. And even beyond there値l be capabilities to add combat capability so you can have sort of a battleship. So it痴 going to be very major content that will become available throughout the 3.x patch series. Once you池e able to go out and explore and travel and find those different areas in the sky you may find that some of these areas may have Notorious hardcore monsters that you can稚 beat and just end up defeated and having to have to come back. Or you may find that other Free Company have already visited and trashed it and made a mess of it. Or you may end up finding a land where you can find really rare gathering items, materials that you can harvest. So there will be a lot of very interesting things you can look forward to in the 3.x series.

So more FF14 news:

- Patch 2.55 will drop on March 31st.
- It will consist of a hefty final piece of the 2.x Main Scenario. Sounds like things might go a little pear shaped for the PC.
- Loot restrictions on World of Darkness will be lifted.

- We will get the full 3.0 trailer on April 11th.
- They are keeping it under wraps cause apparently it has spoilers about the end of 2.55.

- There was also an interview with Famitsu from Pax East that had some interesting tidbits.
- Astrologians will be able to change between a healing and a mitigating stance. The stance they are in will change the function of their spells.
- We will be learning more about Bahamut and what lead up to his capture in Heavensward in a side quest. Omega weapon will be part of the story too.
- Sounds like they are trying to spice up gathering and crafting.
- At 60 you will be able to apprentice to a guildmaster and earn a specialisation. You can have more than one specialisation but only one can be active at a time and there is a delay in switching between them.
- For gatherers, certain nodes will require the player to learn about the area from locals. Those nodes will be invisible until the player has learned about them. Other nodes will require medallions to discover.

We will also be getting the benchmark next month. My guess is probably around the time the full trailer/intro movie is released.

More neat interview info.

Airships are sounding pretty fun.

I'm getting pretty hyped for Heavensward. Its actually sounding like more than I originally expected gameplay wise and the few hints we have had at the lore are pretty intriguing.

2.55 is less than 2 weeks away now.

So even though I absolutely loathe Final Fantasy's art style, races and so forth I'm actually considering grabbing this for Heavensword.

Lallafel are the only race I didn't like the look of but they weren't any worse than Gnomes and in game I found them pretty well handled, ruthless little buggers.

Japanese games always seem to have this weird combination of mixing quite dark themes with a kind of high fantasy vibe without the dark gritty elements you'll find in western games. I mean FF14 has a pretty dark story which is why your character feels particularly heroic. But its combined with Moggles and Chocobos and such. They manage to blend surprisingly well.

FF14 also handles grey story elements very well. The beast tribe interactions are laced with these. Ishgard as well.

You see that with the city states you align with. Each may be the good guy but also has done its own shady things. Ul'dah for example (besides being corrupt) destroyed its sister city in the past and turned them all into undead and Limsa Lominsa has caused the war they're in with the kobolds due to their expansion.

One thing I enjoy is seeing a lore forum that has an actual SE poster.
